power valve function
I have a '79 nikki carb I am rebuilding and I am trying to figure out what to do with the power valve solonoid and the richer solonoid valve. I have searched the forums, looked at the nikki pdf manual, and my haynes manual and from what I can tell the power valve solonoid is controlled by an emissions control unit. The carb will be going on a 12A I have in my VW Beetle and well I dont have an emissions control unit. I just want a bare bones carb with nothing but the necessities.
If I leave the power valve solonoid disconnected will I have drivability issues?
Is there one state (open or closed) that it would be ok to keep the valve in while the engine is running?
Am I correct in assuming that I can leave the richer valve disconnected? It seems that I might just get some backfiring if I do. I guess my other opion is to put the little limit switch back on there and hook it up to an ignition power source.
Any info or advice would help, thanks

Ok I have solved some of my problem (search works better when you spell solenoid correctly). The power valve causes the mixture to richen for warmup and high load. It is controlled by a vacuum switch apparently (I dont have one). It seems like I will either suffer from crappy mileage if its constantly on or lean high load conditions if I disable it. I don't like either of those options so Im going to see if I can find an adjustable vac switch from McMaster carr and try that. My LC1 will really help with this. I'll post an uptdae when I get some results.
Still curious if any one else has had this problem (79 carb with no way to hook up the power valve solenoid)
The richer valve can apparently be left disconected according to my searching.
