Power steering Upgrade

Have any of you guys done the power steering upgrade detailed on this web page?

Power Steering Upgrade

Before you speed freaks belch flames at me for having this stuff, read on as to why I want to keep it.

Here's why I ask. I have an 84 GSL-SE that has had the P/S pump replaced twice by the previous owner--so I'm just waiting for the damn thing to go out. Also, the AC compressor shaft seal is leaking and so is the discharge hose. I happen to have an 88 TII that I'm engine swapping into the SE, the power steering pump and AC unit look pretty good. Using the 88 hardware may save me quite alot of money and the P/S unit looks to be much better designed.

I thought about going manual (which I would have preferred) but the conversion is just too much more crap to do. As for the AC, South Texas is no place for a car without it.

I'd love to hear from anyone that has performed this mod.

Thanks in advance,

Scott

Even with 205/50/15s up front, I have no problem turning the wheel even parking...the whole P/S system is added weight that is absolutely not necessary...might as well stick a brick or two on the corners to even the weight out on the tires while you're at it...

We run 205/60/13 Victo Racer's on our club car and it's a pain in the *** to turn that wheel. I really wish we had PS or something else to make up for it. On streets it was never a problem though.

I didn't have a problem at the BMW 1.95 mile course at TMS in FTW this year, either and the course had a 10 or 12 cone slalom right near the end...
