Power guess

OK so I have a 1980 7 with the 12a. I have a 45 dcoe on her btw dont listen to the webber haters i love mine and it looks sweet at shows and a pacesetter header to a full 2.5 exhaust to a practically straight through muffler. Which makes it shoot flames like a mother! Watch this if you wanna see one
It feels pretty fast to me. I have a friend with a NA Porsche 944 aka the gslse competition. The Gslse have like 25 more hp than a 12a and the gslse were a little quicker in a straight line than a na 944 which have like 150hp. And everything I drive his car I feel like mine is faster. My car weighs 200lbs lighter and I feel like it's making as much power as a gslse does. Any guesses of how much power I'm making. Honestly I'm thinking 140ish. I know there are some dudes with similar set ups so give me a ballpark.

its possible you're making something like 135 rwhp, or maybe 155 at the flywheel, give or take about 10hp.

assuming you don't have any ports done, I would venture to say you're making around 130hp or so, which is like 110 whp give or take
Weight plays a big factor
Wait til the next show with a dyno comes up and get your car done for the show price!

I would guess your are in the low 140s. Your carb is smallish, a Dell 48 would be better. Your
exhaust is not optimized, the pacesetter header probably flows poorly and the 2.5 inch
exhaust is too big plus its joining the exhaust pulses together too early. You want to get
a long prmary exhaust like the RB SP that doesn't join together until the rear axle. Also
you didn't mention your timing or ignition but if both are stock your leaving some
ponies out there as well.

My setup dynoes around 134 whp which I think is about max from a stock port 12A. I need
to dyno it again with the nikki and my latest exhaust (RB SP). I don't expect much more
but I do expect a better torque curve. The Dell had nothing below 3500 whereas the nikki
comes alive as soon as you move the throttle.

Well the dell and webers give you all the power up top in the rev range. I heard that a 45mm weber is about as big as i should go on a stock port. And i read that RB headers really arent that much better perrformance wise compared to the racing beat. Quality thats another thing haha.

The dell and webers only have decent torque in the top range but drivability suffers at
lower rpms because they can't support the correct fuel/air mix at the low vacuum seen at
idle like a nikki can. My hogged nikki is at least as good at the top end as my Dell 48 if not
better. I would need to dyno it to prove it.

What you are "hearing" is probably mostly wrong. A stock port with good ignition
(which stock is not very good), maxed out timing and a well tuned exhaust can certainly
support better than a 45. Also the wrap around DCOE and Dells have issues due to the
length of the intake runners as well. The best weber setup is the IDA 48 or dual DCD 36.

You should check your plug colors or the AFRs at idle, cruise and WOT to determine how
lean or rich you are running.
