power antenna

i know that this has been covered many times, my question is how can i do it so that i have a switch controlling the antenna, versus my cd player controlling it??
i have a three pronged switch, one for power, one for load, and the other ground. do any of u guys know how to hook it up so that it works the right way??
i'm not that good with wiring a system so that it works, i can only do stero systems. any help would be greatly appreciated--thanx

I wire mine so the antenna goes down when ignition is turned off. Instructions are on the forum someplace.

i have a switch located on my console that controls mine. Just bought the antenna from napa for like $50. Works great and installs easy.

what type of radio do you have? most aftermarket radios are able to control the power antenna correctly(up on radio down on cd player or off). you should have a blue wire and a blue/white wire. one is for turning on an amp and the other is for controlling an antenna.

yea, i do have that, i was just trying to set it up so i could use a switch. a switch would be better becuase i have an ipod and the monster cable that allows me to listen to my ipod through the antenna, and so if i went through a car wash, i would have to turn off the radio so the antenna would go down, meaning i wouldn't be able to listen to the music. if no one has theirs hooked up that way and don't know how to hook it up that way, i can hook it up the other way. i just thought i would try using a switch instead.

oh.
well you can just use a standard on/off toggle switch. it will have 2 prongs on the back, just cut the wire in 2,hook the wires to the switch. as long as the switch is on it will work like it normally does, when you turn the switch off it goes down.

what I'm doing is getting rid of the antenna completely...then welding the hole over...and putting the wire antenna in my rear window...now that I've decided to sell my new in box GTU stule spoiler...in my opinion go without the antenna...
