post pics of your custom door panels
my door panels are in ok shape for being 25 years old, but the pleather and the rubber trim stuff has turned greenish brown. im thinking of pulling everything off of the panel, and just covering the whole thing in 1 sheet of maroon fabric and just putting a leather strap or something for the door pull. someone did something simmilar to this, but i cant find it.
anyway, im still looking around for ideas, so post pics of what you have done.

Mine have had the map pockets and handles removed.
Then been Re-carpeted and using speaker pods on doors for the stereo.
Only have the door opening handle on the inside, shut the door by using the handle or wind the window down a bit and put hand through the window to pull the door shut.
Looks tidy, modern, and works a treat.

I preserved my original map pocket trim liners and handles, but reupholstered everything (including the pockets), converted to electric windows & mirrors, and added a "rotor" motif.

THis guy's are my second choice since I could not find the aluminum ones. However, since I hate vinal, if I were to go this route, I would probably do a dark brown leather--plus think of how good that would smell.

In original form they are completely smooth on the back, and too thin to blind drill and thread.
I soldered brass screws to the rear for fastening thru the panels, to give a nice "tuck" effect to the padded upholstery.
I tried epoxy first, but even after grinding the chrome off and scuffing the base metal, I couldn't get it to stick for long against the tension of the upholstery and door slamming; they both popped off after a week or two (and fell straight into the map pockets, lol).
Solder works but you have to be careful not to pucker the chrome, as solder will wick under it.
