Possible Fuel Pump problems???

I have a new engine and have broken it in and am now trying to see how fast I can get her up to speed. The only problem is that I get into first all the way up to 6.5K then shift to 2nd and still floor it until I get to 6.5K again then shift to third and before I can shift again the car starts to act as if it is not getting enough fuel or something. I then let off the pedal for a few seconds and floor it again and she's fine again. I have changed the fuel filter with a factory one and have new rubber lines around the pump. I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem or may know whats going on?

Get a fuel pressure gauge and find out!

Do you know if you car blows smoke when this occurs?
