Possible Coil Failure

Alright, When my car is idle. You can hear a very light tap, nothing you would usually worry about. But I did.

I was thinking that it was the coil. What do you all think. Are there any other possibilties.

Oh yeah, one more thing. Did you know that you can see your flywheel spinning with your hood propped? Or is this something else, it doesnt seem very dafe.

All help will be greatly appreciated!

Eh?

The tapping could be anything so you'll have to try and describe it better. One thing that comes to mind though is a bad relay.

The ticking coul be a coil. Go over to it with the engine running and GRAB IT. Ok, no, Im joking, but go over to it and lean down close and see if you can hear the ticking. It could be that its arcing. Mine did that too...If it is ticking, look CLOSELY at the coil to see where its arcing at. The ones Im seen arc from under the spark plug boot to one of the wire terminals on the side (ground I think). If you cant see it in the daylight, wait for night time, it should be a faint blue spark. If you search for "arcing coils what does it mean" or something like that, my post is out there with pictures of the arc at night . Hope that helps .

don't forget to put some bulb grease on all your plug wire ends, it helps prevent arcing.
