Porting VS Turbo

I want a bit more HP out my car. My budget is anywhere from 500-1200 (1200 is max) I cannot decide wether to to port or turbo.

I have a 12A engine.

If i were to port it how much Hp would i gain? Im looking at street port or extended port. Would it kill my gas mileage? This car is going to be a daily driver so im looking for reliability. My car has 150,000 miles on it. No smoke etc. Only some steam from water sometimes.

How does a cheap turbo installation go with this? I want to turbo my car the cheapest way possible. To make it reliable i would run low boost such as 3-6 psi.
Would it kill my mpg?

Which one will give the most bang for the buck? thanks for your help in advance. and yes i did searching. thanks in advance!

I think you should rebuild/port it then turbo it later on.

Porting will effect mileage slightly.

Turboing shouldnt as much but it doesn't really matter because which ever you do, you'll end up driving the **** outta your car way more often then you do now.

I gonna vote for a rebuild and a healthy street port with a carb upgrade.
You can turbo down the line but at least you'll have a known solid engine to work with when you do.

Turboing will be a bitch, you'll have to fab your own setup and there will many headachs on the way. Even if you get it done in your budjet it'd be very easy to run a little lean and blow your 150k motor.

My two cents man, good luck to you either way.

Woah! if I'm reading your sig right you don't even have a header?

First things first man. Intake and exhaust. You might be very happy with the gains a full exhaust and a good carb will give you.

lol, you said header and cat in the same sentence.
If you get the rb streetable header you can put a grey market cat on it but then what's the point.

get a RB header with the Holley carb or whatever you prefer, more streetability I think with a Holley. I run a Mikuni and a SP it's fidgity a lot I have to tune that damn thing. throw new pulleys on that damn thing a Red Top battery with an alternator upgrade it's gonnapull more power meaning less strain n engine. There's so much tht affects HP numbers.

But start with a Racing Beat Header and full intake system on that badboy. Ebay sells the manifolds from RB sometimes (just cheaper is all I'm saying). Slap full suspension kit on t so you keep the power to the ground where you want it to be and not all over the road.

Remember it's not how fast do you wanna go it's how much money do you have lol. Cause it's expensive in the end.
