i ported my SE motor with no template.. its not too tough really... follow the lines from where the side seals and oil control rings run, and for the ones on the intermediate plate, feel on the inside of the water jacket so u don't go thru

but how far should you go though, how do you go about porting towards the inner part of the housing or what not. damn that doesnt make sense. lol. even with a template, it's only telling you the actual surface portion. how deep do you go? damnit i suck at this. LOL

I'm with fb II on this one. How deep do you go? Has there ever been any kind of write up describing this? Where could we get some kind of tutorial? Or do we just suck it up, close our eyes, pray, and start drilling? I really want to do a port on mine, but I have no clue where to begin. (Sorry for jacking your thread)

well the thing is for $40 or so for the template, it could save you a hundered or so from not having to buy new end plates when you screw them up. I would spend the 40 just to know that i'm doing it right. a custom port can really make the car run like **** too.....just be careful if you do it yourself.
