porting

aright, my baby's only a few days away from being back on the road, but im already planning the next project, a street port for the ol 12A.

i wanna do some comparison shopping first, but im having a tough time finding all the places that can do it. i just wanna send em out and get em back, ill rebuild the thing myself. (at least, thats what im thinking right now.)

when its all done i just drop the thing back in and adjust the carb maybe, right? maybe do the crazy 2nd gen ignition mod with all the crazy letters? or do i need a whole big other setup? im not financially or emotionally ready to go 12at yet, figured i might as well start with a port job.

You can do it with a dremel, but it takes a long time. You'll want to use an air grinder with a carbide cutting tip.

You could also use an electric die grinder. Get the extension. It really makes things a whole lot easeir!

For any size streetport you won't need to mod anything else internally unless you plan on revving past 8500-9k. A good streetport, sterling or weber carb and a good exhaust should put you around 150-160rwhp, maybe up to 200rwhp if you know what you're doing.

I have a feeling I'm going to be in this game long enough to know what a lot more than just 200 rwhp feels like in my car. At least in one of them.

I forgot to mention in our PMs that the exhaust should be ported also to reap the full benefits of the intake porting.

I cant see him getting 200rwhp out of a 12A with a streetport. I have seen a 12A with 205rwhp with a full bridge and custom fuel injection. Hell I'm only making 140rwhp with a 1/2 bridge and weber. The weber needs more tuning yes i know. I can see a 13B streetport making 180-200rwhp but not a 12A. Well I'll find out this winter on how close i can get to 200rwhp cause I'm building up a massive full bridge 12A and getting new fuel and air needles to retune the carb. Sorry its just my opinion but i could be wrong. I guess. lol
