Lightbulb ? Port Idea ?

When I hear about street porting an engine, it is always about smoothing and opening the close of the intake port with out removing too much metal so you dont break into the coolant passages or allow seals to fall out. Why dont anyone talk about opening the start of the intake? Their is no seal interferance and enough metal to remove with out hitting coolant passages atleast 1/16th of an inch can be removed from the start of the port with out breaking into coolant. Why not do this?

The bottom side of the port is not the opening side. The left side is in that picture. Some people do port down a little. Flow through that part of the port is relatively low compared to the rest of it though.

Yep. Like rotarygod said, the outer edge is the opening edge of the port. Porting that out will give you earlier port opening and more flow. If you want significantly more port timing you need to bridgeport it.

I know all about bridge, but I dont have the cash for all that. I just want a massive street port! Iam thinking about just useing my side plates that I have finished, I just dont like the way it is so close to the side piece, oh well. It stays in place while rotating the rotor with seals in place!

Go read the stuff I told you about. With the plexi you can see just how big you can go.

That requires rotor assembly balancing, and I dont have the cash for that one.
