poly motor mounts?

I dunno. Super hard rubber though. I've got a pair of pucks waiting for installation when my poor old motor blows and gives me an excuse to upgrade it.

It might be possible to buy some UHMW bar stock in the right diameter and just cut it to whatever thickness you need. You can get it for about $20 a foot here....

That is what Mazdatrix uses to make their motor mounts. Except theirs are aluminum discs covered with UHMW. I'm not sure how the UHMW would hold up by itself....

Are Solid Tranny Mounts Available Anywhere?
Long story short I put the engine and tranny back into Rosie tonight, and after getting it all bolted down I noticed that my transmission mount was shot. I can lift the tranny tailshaft right up off of the crossmember. So since I've gotta replace the transmission mount anyway, I thought I would look into an upgrade? Does anybody know if there is a solid tranny mount available for FBs?

How do you like them? Do they give you any vibration inside the car at idle? I used to have solid mounts in my Integra GSR and they shook the car apart. I know that rotaries are a lot smoother, but I just wondered how much vibration I would get?
I'm planning on keeping the stock motor mounts and using just the solid tranny mount. Your input would be appreciated. Did you get those off the Mazdaspeed website?

I've got a set of solid aluminum motor mounts that a friend made up for me. They eliminated the shudder that would happen on occasion. The vibration is 'smooth' and still gives me a huge grin when I first drive off!

Hockey pucks are stiffer than polys, softer than aluminum. Pucks also have been know to crack/shatter in extreme cold. Keep in mind that going to stiffer engine mounts places more stress on the worn/weak stock tranny mount. Plan on having a tranny mount replacement on hand, better yet, upgrade both at the same time.

I was planning on getting the Banzai poly mounts, but I do love cheap ghetto solutions, so I might try the hockey pucks. For those who've done it, is it tolerable for a daily driver? I loved the Racing Beat ones I was borrowing for a while.
Any options other than solid for tranny mounts?

I had hockey pucks. IMO not worth the time or 6 dollars. Not to mention they can be a little bit of a pain since they drop the motor a little. I used the banzai motor mounts, great product and customer service.

Tranny mount should remain stock since it has no bearing on torque, but can transfer vibrations if you do it wrong.
I would not bother with hocky pucks. Totally ghetto, even for me. RB or Mazdatrix competition motor mounts all the way.
I once tried a stack of washers on each side in my REPU and the end result was lots of noise, lots of vibration and lots of wear of the front cover threaded holes. It was easier to shift, but the rest of the driving experience sucked. I swapped in one stock motor mount on the driver's side and one competition on the passenger side. It's a perfect balance between some vibes and noise, and almost as stiff as the washers making shifting easier, even with the stock 30 pound flywheel.
So if it's a question of cost, you no longer have an excuse. Just buy one competition motor mount and you'll be good to go.
