please help my 85 gsl se wont start

i filled up with gas, car was running fine, pulled out onto road and it died, sounds like it wants to start but wont. so I got a new fuel pump and filter still wont start..the pump is not clicking so I'm sure I'm not getting power to it..no fuel being pumped up in the engine..Anyone got any ideas what i shoud do..was running great..Now my road trip for today is put on hold and I was going home for 2 weeks to visit family...now I can't move out of my driveway!

Help me please, any suggestions?

There is a fuse for the ful pump. Check it. Also check others. Sometimes another blown fuse can affect more than one circuit.

oh yea and sumtimes the fuse may look good but u wont know until u use a test light...so try that or just take some workin fuse if u have any extras and swap it in the place of the fuel pump fuse.

Why do females always say things like that? They are just as capable as men mentally and physically.

I'd suggest running a wire from the battery to the fuel pump with a switch mounted somewhere, not only will this work, but will be a great anti-theft device.

check the ignition switch and wiring, the blue wire is the one to the fuel pump. i had to re-wire my ignition b/c i was stranded out in the middle of no-where, where all the races are held. i had to rip my wires out nd read my diagram i had there. it was a pain, but my car now has a $5 radioshack switch and $6 radioshack momentary on switch, to run my car. i also installed a fuel pump switch and hid it in the cubby behind the drivers seat. and all i need my key for is to un-lock my steering wheel. but anywho, make sure that the ignition switch is ok, make sure the wire for the fuel pump isn't bad, e.i the sheild is cut or wasting away and grounded out)

I thought that on an se the pump didn't work until the key is turn AND the engine is cranking. So she wouldn't hear it with the engine trying to start. I know I don't on my se.

Was there gas on the plugs when you pulled them?

Did you crank the engine without the plugs to see if gas would come out?

And now that the pump is hard wired, does it start?

ok guys I thought about a relay also, folowed your threads but couldn't find pics of where it is I should look for the relay.

So sorry I had a dumb girl ,moment, I'm just frustrated..normally I have more patience than this.

So could you explain to me where to find the relay..there weren't in pics in your thread. And if that is not the problem can you explain in detail how to wire the pump to the battery. I'm willing to try all this, just treat me like someone who needs a picture drawn and I can accomplish this.
Also my car is fuel injected, no carb.

here is my email and msn messenger if I can get help easier that way. diane_guy@hotmail.com

Try and start the engine... crank it up and look at the tachometer...does the needle bounce? If it does the ignitor/s is/are shot. If thats the symptom, replace those and your car should fire right up.

okay tach doesn't bounce..I also called a rotary repair service and they said it could be as simple as the relay switch under dash..but I don't know where that is located or what it looks like..anyone know?

The tach is connected to the Trailing coil, which means the Leading ignitor could be the one that is out. It could still be a bad ignitor.
Pull off the fuel line thats coming from the firewall and place a catch can under there then crank up the engine.. fuel should be coming out, if not its the pump wiring again...cant say for sure what the problem is...engine diagnosis online is tough.
When you turn the key do you hear relay(s) clicking over?
Call up your local specialist RX7.COM, Ari and the bunch should be able to help you (972) 530-3335
