please help!

Ok, apparently by searching, the right rear bearings are prone to failure, and after thinking the caliper was sticking, and changing the caliper, i have come down to the fact that its the bearing.

I cant find the diagram of the bearing in the FSM, or how to get it out. Then again, I also cant find a 1983 FSM, if that matters.

Does anyone out there feel like a write up on how to change this bearing (including taking to a shop to have it pressed).

Thanks in advance!

The later FSM will show you what you need to know, they are the similar. The 85 goes into more detail here and there, than the 83 does. But yeah, pull the axle and take it to the shop to have the bearing pressed on and off. While you are at it, do both of them and flush the housing.

Yes unless you have a press, you cant put the new bearings on. Also youll see you need to split the collar to get the old bearing off. So you will need new collars as well. Be careful not to damage the axle when removing the collar.

yes. go to autozone and get an axle puller.. Make sure you take off the 4 bolts 1st and have at it.

Autozone loans them for free

A puller will make it easier. Sometimes they are really in there good. Oh and Drum brake cars have 4 bolts on the backing plate, disc cars have 3.

just tug, you don't need an axle puller. i remember seeing someone said to just throw the wheel back on and use that for leverage. both mine just popped out with a couple good tugs and i weigh 140lbs HA!
