Nothing from the local parts store....unless you can get Borla's at your local parts store? Otherwise....go RB rear...the 81-82 version is the same rear as the full SP system. Magnaflow's will burn out...it is only thin stainless mesh surrounded by standard fiberglass packing. My 4" rounds burnt out in less than 5 mos.!

If you want the "out the side look", run RB presilencers...either the singles or they have one for the true-dual system that has two pipes running thru it. If that is what you are set on...and won't get hassled for sound, go RB Road/Race header, 2nd gen. true-dual presilencer and go 45 degree out....it will be LOUD!. Out the side doesn't really offer enough space for muffling.....

Depending on porting....topend may suffer a bit....stock thru bridges and even P-Ports....like long primary setups....bridges and PP's going to a megaphone or MazdaMotorsports type mufflers with little or no restriction, just some noise reduction.

Long primary meaning not merging the two pipes till just before the rear differential, and merging to 2.5 or 3.00-inch, once again, depending on porting. My Rx2 dumps like this....its at the rear, but I haven't been stopped by one time yet!

While the side out exhaust may be 'cool', there are several downsides to it. There's very little clearence when running it under the rocker panel, it has the potential of overheating the right rear tire, not good, you'll lose space needed for the rear muffler, making the exhaust much much louder.

You may wish to read 'How to Modify Your Mazda RX7', It covers exhaust and somewhere it states the ideal exhaust system lengths. I don't believe a sideout system would fall within those parameters. Link to the book online is in my sig line. If not, SgtFox has it on his website.

the one below is my 75 with dual 2.25 into dual mufflers. The other, 73, has a dual pipes also into a 2.5 racing beat universal muffler with a turn down tip. sounds bad *** and it has a different. The RX-4 has the racing beat as well but it has a universal 3" muffler as it has TII bridgeport motor
