Most people here don't like it, but I have always said a chevy 302 would be great. I just need to find another RX and the time and money to do it.

Chevy makes the 305

Ford Makes the 302...

As for the swap...

If you enjoy the First gen forum and don't want to get flamed go to Google and do a search there are other resources out there, but this forum is definatly NOT one of them...

Good Luck

A

Your wrong Anthrax! Check your facts brother, Chevy made the 302 in '67 & '68 and put it in the Camaro. Was a 327 with a big 283 crank.

you could probably put one together from aftermarket engine producers.

You can also get a 12A, a 13B, a Renesis, and 20B! From a Mazda dealer for instance!

I would like to do one with a buick supercharged 3800 from the Bucik Ultra, or one of the 3400 engines, I think it would make a nice all around car.

So would a Renesis 13b.
Pisstons are from other cars, not for rotary beasts.

I wasn't aware that you could get a 12A or a 20B from a Mazda dealer. Or even a 13B independent of its car. However, if you want more info and less hate, www.torquecentral.com has a good V8 RX7 board. Although most info is on Chevy powered FC's and FD's, I've found a bit of good info on Ford 302's into FB's. Just a tip: They like to flame rotary-lovers over there, so if you don't like that, stay out of the lounge.

Lets see, I have installed a Chevy 350 into an Olds Starfire, Chevy Vega, and Currently, a Chevy Astro van, none of which ever came with a v8. Now I'm putting a 350 HO into my Rx7. Why stop now? Next, I'm thinking of a Karman Ghia......

And before you start flaming me, I like Rotory's too. But I just like to have cars that are a little different than the rest of the crowd. I like the RX7 because alot of regular people always ask me what kind of car it is.

Note: I have never, ever, not once, heard anyone complaining about Ford putting 428's and 429's into a little Brittish car called the AC........

I have not heard anyone complaining about putting Rotory's into old Datsuns or Toyotas or other vehicles.

I think that the Automotive Hobbiest ( what we all are) or should I say enthusiast- should be comfortable doing what he or she likes- To there own car.

I'm putting a 350 into mine because I like to do that type of thing, and my car is not what you would call a rare valuable collectors item.

However, just so the purists will be happy, I am trading my good running 12A to a fellow Rx7 owner for a disc brake, LSD rear end, so that he can build it for his car.

See you can make everyone happy, some of the time!

Later,
Bill

Damn, his spelling is worse than mine! And i live in Norway!

I think he is talking about putting a 6 cylinder engine of some sort in a FB, and that the result will be 700 pounds of tourqe or something, if it fits...

You are right of course. It actually goes under the "other engine" thread under Rotory Performance on the main page of this site (The link that McNannay posted above). But since he was asking opinions, then it fits here as well.

You know I was just talking a friend of mine into coming to this site because he is a rotory purist. He is also a performance purist. I was explaining to him how great it was to have a site where you don't get flamed for having or not having a rotory engine in your car..... Was I wrong?

Oh, By the way, just how much would it cost to put a 20B into your FB? Or for that matter, a fresh (Read: New) from Mazda 13B? Just curious......
Later,
Bill
