I love my first gen. When people see mine they just say, " You should get it painted". The paint is in nearly perfect conditoin, still glossy and everything, but its tan. I've grown to like the color and don't want to paint it, but every time someone sees my car all they can manage to say is either, "when are you gonna paint it?" or " does it have a four or a six cylinder engine?"

I wish my car looked good enough for people to mistake it as restored!

I wish mine still had paint that was recognizable... Usually they don't know if it is black or grey.. Oxidation sucks

rx7gslse, take it to MAACO for a quickie. Make sure you dissassemble as much as possible so their masking time is wiped out and you can get it sprayed on the cheap. Even THEIR work is better than an oxidized old factory paint job. For that matter, since you're in FTW, maybe your car can be a guinea pig this late Spring when I try my hand painting with the garage booth homejob described in Car Craft. Bring the beer, supplies and your labor and we can fix up your ride if you haven't got it painted by then...

damn it i get that porshe **** all the time,im getting mazdaspeed real fukin big across the windsheild, then im getting mazdatrix on the rear side windows with the rotor picture, then im getting seven sport on my back window, mistake it then i say.

if some then asks if its a porshe i will simply say

"why yes it is,its the special rotary addition, the fastest one they ever made,in fact it's so fast they had to outsource all there work to a special company called mazda, they dubbed this beast the rx7"

think they will get the hint?probably not.

yeah a second gen does kinda look like a daytona, they really look extremely close to the 84 porshe 944's.almost dead on.you think maybe because they raced against them in lemans?or maybe it was cause they beat them 4 in a row and a couple of other times and just kept the body style to tease porshe .

If I had a better paint job... OXIDATION SUX!!! I seriously think that mazda may not have completely factored in the hotter rotary engine thing, cuz my hood is badly oxidized right above the engine... My top is also oxidized... it sux! But my friends love my car--they drive it and are like "wow..."
