A-pillar trim question

How do you get the plastic trim piece off the a-pillar (beside the windshield)?

Thanks - David

What year? SA (79-80) is held on by screws. FB (81-85) is held on by clips. BTW, I live in Statesville also. Maybe we could get together sometime.

It's an '83. Do I just pop it off?

Bad '83- I'd love to get together! Sounds like you've got an interesting car. Mine is completely stock- for now...

They pop off. 3 clips, iirc. You need to loosen the piece above the window 1st where it meets the A pillar.

English please. The 2-1/8" gauges are what, 52 mm? Find a 2nd gen pillar pod and mod it. A little trimming and a heat gun will make it fit.

Never seen a 38 mm pod. Can't say I've seen any 38 mm gauges lately either.

hmmm

ya I just saw a whole new line from a company who very conveniently I can't seem to recall now...but anyway they have a nice 1.5" gauge which is surprisingly easy to read and very well lit...I know there is some vision blockage issues by the larger 2-2.5'' gauges and I thought these would be perfect!

Your best bet is this 2 gauge pod, I have one that im putting in my car and the quality is pretty good. It's still going to require a small amount of molding with a heat gun, but the overall product is good! Also the pods are 52mm, the most popular size of gauge.

OK--I broke the piece of trim above the passenger door. Will that piece from an '85 fit an '83 (there's one on eBay)?

Thanks - David

The trim around the headliner and the a-pillar, and the b-pillar is the same from '81 to '85. If you really want to, you can use the a-pillar trim from a '79-'80. You will just have to use the screws, and it doesn't quite match up with the trim for the headliner. I opted to use the SA a-pillar trim because of the screws when I made my gauge pod.
