Picture Request - RB Holley Intake Kit

Trying to find pictures of what my missing MOP linkage looks like so I might be able to fabricate one, and the "fittings" that RB says are installed on the float bowls. I know I can get the fittings separately if needed, but the linkage rod is supposedly riveted to something so they dont sell it separately. This leaves me to needing to fabricate something using some pictures to get an idea of what needs to happen.

I had emailed them a while ago about getting the install directions, but they havent replied. When I called, he said that email was the best way to get the directions, and to just be patient. Understandable, but Im not patient

Anyway, if I could get a couple pictures, that would be great. Are the MOP fittings actually in the float bowl sides (covers), or further in? My carb has the race float bowl conversion on it as well, but the guy at RB said that didnt matter, they should still be there. Im just not sure what Im looking for really.

Thanks in advance!

Bump for the morning crew. The only carbs Ive played with on these was the stock Nikki, and my Weber DCOE. This is a horse of different color to me.

Got the directions in my email this morning, but they dont have any helpful pictures either. It just says to connect a part I dont have (the MOP rod). Im sure if you have it in front of you, its rather obvious. But, without one in front of me to look at, I have no idea what it looks like to try and make one.

Also, I still dont know where the MOP input is. The directions just say "Connect the metering oil pump tube to the fitting on the carburetor primary float bowl." I didnt see a fitting very obviously when I looked over the carb, but I could have missed it. Although, the car the kit came off of was running premix, so it may not even be there at all, hence wanting a picture.

Thanks in advance again!

I don't have too many pictures of my old setup but here's a couple of things.

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ghlight=holley

In this thread third picture, you can see 2 hoses coming off of my holley, the black one is where OMP oil is feed into. The oil lines are connected so that they both merge into one line and feed into there. The clear one as the thread describes is for installing a vaccum line from it that can be used to Vaccum advance the distributor or like i did used it to vent out my oil better.

As for the rod itself, it connects off of the back side and there should a hole that it goes through, what we did with mine since i too was missing that piece was use 2 Stock oil metering rods, (used top and bottom end to keep the 2 drilled holes in there for sticking the pins in there) and then just brazed them together. You can see a bit of the rod in this picture but I think thats all that i have:

Thanks, that helped. I talked to another person at RB that made a little more sense about the fitting for the MOP. Basically, on the race float kit (like what was on yours), there is a plug in the side of the primary bowl you take out, and put their fitting in. They sell them for $9 each. So, thats covered. I plan to try and find something at the local hardware store before I commit to $9 for one little fitting, but hey, at least I know whats up with that.

As for the linkage rod, good idea about using two stock ones. Now that I know it really is just as simple as routing it out and around crap, I should be able to come up with something that will work pretty easy. I have the ability to drill into round rod fairly easy, so I will probably just buy a section of round rod that will fit, and bend it to shape and drill the ends for cotter pins. Not sure what he was talking about stuff being riveted to things and not being able to sell it separately? Oh well.

Nice thread for the PCV valve. I will keep it in mind once I get mine going. I wonder if you put a Y in that line if you could use it for PCV and dizzy advance at the same time? Obviously the Y would be before the PCV valve to allow full vacuum to get to the dizzy.

you can always drill and tap it for a regular 1/8" NPT to 1/8" brass barb fitting. should be able to get them for a couple of bucks from your local hardware store or parts store.

Yeah, I realize I could do that, but Id rather just use the hole that is already there.

I wish I had a picture of your throttle cable linkage, I think someone has modified mine and Id like to see where your MOP rod connected.

If you could, that would be awesome. I really just need to see how the MOP rod connects to the linkage.

Also, I noticed your choke tube was hooked up, I know Im missing mine. I should probably try and find that piece so the choke doesnt stay on all the time eh? Haha. Did that work well enough for you, or should I go with the manual choke?

Its a little hard for me to put the pictures you have together with what mine looks like. I look at the pictures, but then I have to drive an hour away to the shop where mine is before I can see it. I wish I was able to see them "side by side". I think Im going to have to take the laptop with me so I can figure it out more in depth.

It seems mine doesnt have the vacuum nipple on the body you used in your PCV valve thread next to the MOP input. However, I do have a vacuum fitting on the base of the carb that looks like it was used for the vacuum advance for the dizzy based on the hose length/shape attached to it.

Ah well, Im sure I will figure it all out in time, haha. I still have to rebuild the engine before it goes on anyway. Plenty of time to figure it out

Perfect, thanks a TON. Now I can compare that to what Ive got on my carb and go from there.

Few questions, does that linkage get lifted as soon as then throttle starts to open? If so, at what throttle position does the OMP become fully open? If it doesnt lift immediately when applying throttle, what throttle position starts to open the OMP?

essentially yes. it pulls up on the arm of the omp as soon as u open the throttle. and the omp is fully open at wot.

Thanks a lot guys! My carb should have that linkage on it, so I can make up a rod to run to the OMP and adjust it to operate the same way. Im also looking at an external premix tank, or just straight premix, but I have to research the block off for the OMP for straight premix (which as I said is what the car it came off of was running)

Nevermind. Found my answer in THIS picture. I was wondering what those two little plates with holes were for. Duh...

Now if only I could tune this thing. I think Im going to hook up the vacuum advance for the dizzy also, but mine has the race float conversion and the port is gone and has a plug in place. Im hoping I can just swap a nipple back on.
