Picture request

Could somebody please post some pics of 1st Gens with Tan interior. Preferrably leather, but cloth is fine too. Alsol, if anyone could find one that has tan leather and possibly a light blue/gray exterior. Im trying to find the a nice 1st Gen, that I can restore to original, having these options.

IIRC the Interior Colours are: Black, Grey, Burgundy/Red, and Brown

So there is no Tan interior.

The Black and Grey seem to be the most popular interior colours.

The Grey interior looks best with the light blue extiror IMHO

At least on s3 cars, it's Grey, and red/burgandy fo most popular, imo...

Black interior s3's seem pretty rare...

Sorry but that is incorrect. Tan was an interior color, but like black, not available for S3.

Very interesting. I do not recall ever seeing a "BLACK" S3 interior (with new-style dash). Where are you getting the black steering column surrounds from? In the U.S. parts catalog, they are D-code 60210 and 60210A, and are not listed in black. Do you have a part number for them? (Note that the S3 "Grey" color is called "Off-Black" in the U.S. parts catalog.)

Following are the dash colors (pad, crush #60350) from the U.S. parts catalog:
S1 (1979-1980)
black, wine, brown, brown (SA22C 606775-)
S2 (1981-1983)
black, red, tan, brown, dark tan
S3 (1984-1985)
red, off black, brown

IIRC the base interior colors were consistent in all markets.

The '79s had a tan interior. I just saw it in another thread. It was on a car on ebay. Here we go.

Ive seen several 81-83 GSL's with a full tan factory interior, dashboard and all. They are usually with leather seats. It looks pretty good with the right exterior color. All the ones Ive seen were in wrecking yards so they were a bit rough.

The 84-85 cars with the revamped interior came in only 3 colors,Brown,Red and Dark Gray.Although it looks black from a distance, its still gray.

Man I have to admit that I would like to put a little more tan on my interior. I agree that the stock tan is fugly. Here is a couple pics of my car with tan floormats. Gotta keep it stock looking though

PS for some reason it will not let me upload anything onto the site. Any one know why?

Thanks,
Z

I over-simplified by listing just the dash colors. That 1979 has a two-tone interior: the upper dash is brown and the lower trim pieces are tan or beige colored. The parts catalog DOES list "BEIGE" color option for the lower pieces as seen (for 1979 but not 1980). The full tan interior including dash was 1981-1983. It can look good if it is clean.

True. AFAIK, none of the 1984-1985 models with updated dash came with black interiors. In the parts catalog, the grey color is called "off-black." The actual black color was only available in the previous years.

Did earlier years use the same steering column surround? 'Cause I have a NEW Mazda factory black steering column in my basement that's for an 84/85....
And it looks the same as the stock red one it's replacing...
