A bridge ported 20B probably has enough exhaust energy to spool it up

Here we go guys, it's in my car now but there is one small problem, the manifold doesn't fit 100% As you can see in the pic it hits the intake manifold. I'm thinking about re configuring it a little to work, maybe re do the flange area to make the turbo sit closer to the fender well.

Ideas?

Could you fabricate some sort of wedge shaped spacer to tilt the turbo out away from the engine further? I dont really know how all this hooks up, so Im probably not that much help...Thats just my first idea...Maybe a spacer for where the manifold bolts to the engine, that would move the manifold/turbo out from the engine too...Right?

PS - That sure is a pretty radiator in there

It sure is! Is that a 3 core? Where'd you get it? I want a new one rather than re-coring my old one.

I thought about the spacer idea but I'm not too keen on having one more flange in there that can leak and maybe more turbulance. I think I would be happier in the end if I either gave it back to Greg and made one from scratch or cut and re did this one.

Thanks on the radiator comment, I spent half a day cleaning, sandblasting, painting it.

Remember setzep when I warned ya how close mine is to the intake manifold... Mines like less than 1/16" to the bottom of the lower intake I got lucky...

By the way why is the engine bay so bare ? LOL

Ok, so I've just decided...After I get another job, Im gonna start a "project" engine . I think Im gonna do a 12A turbo . I figure that I will attempt to port my own engine, put it together, and use a turbo and manifold from a T2, intercooler from somewhere/something, and a Holley carb with a RB intake manifold...I think? I dont really know what Im doing or if that would even work...Ive heard that I need a different fuel pump and stuff cause of the turbo, and I plan on using a surge tank, plus MSD ignition, with some kind of retard box, and by the time that engine is ready, I will have my A/F gauge, temp gauge, oil pressure gauge, and EGT gauges installed, then I can add my boost gauge . I was trying to think of a way that I can upgrade the engine I have now, but also be able to reuse the parts for my turbo setup...Like I want a RB intake and Holley carb (I think, lol), so I think I can reuse that on the other engine...Hmmm...So many thoughts...So little money...

~T.J.

PS - I have the original engine out of my 83 to work with so I can still have my car on the road while I do this, but I think most of it is shot...Anyone have any advise on judging if the parts are good or not? Like the rotors had the apex seals stuck in them to the point where I needed pliers to get them out, I dont know if that was from carbon or what...Then the housings are flaking a little I think (cant really remember) and I have no idea what to look for on the front, center, and rear plates...

If you only have to space it out 1/2" or so then just get a RB header flange for $25 and another gasket.

I guess that would work but then my turbo would be ~1/4 from my intake manifold and I'm not sure I like that big heater that close to it.

Kind of toying with the idea of making a manifold again. If I were to do this I'd move the turbo ~2" closer to the fender well and ~ 3-4" to the rear. right now as it sits the inlet is 4 3/4" away from the right behind radiator, no good. I'd like to move it back and out but who knows I may change my mind again

put one of those RB turbo adapters on... easiest...

and then it'd be like 2" away from the intake, and you could just put a heat shield in there...

Yeh if were direct coupled to the crank ... hmmmm 1 13B driving the turb...errrr supercharger then another being force fed and driving the car

I think Bentley did somthing similar to see what a blower Bently could do with full boost from idle
