Pics of my IDA Weber setup

Here it is. I fabricated the carb linkage using parts from my old carby and some aluminium strip. You can also see the heatshield I made and the T2 alternator. The heatshield really makes a big difference as to how hot the intake gets.

I wish I had a downdraft 2bbl carb for my RX-2. Damn top mount starter is in the way.

i thought the downdrafts suck because of the short intake manifold = no torque?
thats just what i read a couple of places,
that is a very nice setup though
im ver envious

Looks great. The interesting point is that in your Nikki set up you went to great trouble to have cold air ducting to the air filter. Why have you tried a different approach with the Webber? In my Lotus with twin 45s I used the same approach as your latest.

Yeah, down-draughts suck... but isn't that how all carbs work?

It's definately not the case that if you have short intake runners than you have no torque. Runner lengths do effect the power band but the effects are probably fairly minimal. Besides, if you want more power down low you can put smaller venturis in. I've got pretty big venturis in mine so it bogs down a bit if you floor it at low rpm but the top end is awesome.

I'm still debating whether to run a cold air intake as I'll lose that great induction noise.

I was thinking of making or buying (if someone already makes them?) an aluminium air box that fully encloses the intake trumpets and running some tubing to a big pod style K&N filter in front of the radiator. Should work well.

Was it in IDA? If so then whoever told you not to get it deserves a beating. I've heard IDA's are really expensive over there though.

I knew you'd say something about that. Direct fire does make a difference but more so if your tuning is off. I'd rather have the cleaner engine bay.

I was wondering that the little bracket on the carby was for... then I remembered "oh yeah, right-hand drive"

Seriously beautiful! If you ever go to 13B power lemme know, want a 12A IDA manifold.

eddie: look carefully at the radiator... you can see the "****" of the fan-holding ziptie thingies sticking through from the frontside.

Yep, I'm running pre-mix.

And peejay, you were almost right. The little things sticking through the radiator are actually bolts not zipties. If you look closely you can see there's a nice big washer and a nut attatched to them. Kind of hard to see because I sprayed em black.

Oh, hmm. My electric fan mounting kit came with specialized zipties that looked just like that on the non-fan side.

The sucky part is hitting big bumps, which makes the fan slide down, tearing fins out of the radiator in the process... next time I don't use those cheapo mounts!

Total advance is 25* L and 15* T.

We were playing around with the timing while the car was on the dyno and we found that we could run almost 30* with no sign of detonation but we backed it off to be safe.

Very Nice, Very Clean. Great Job.

Does it get cold in your part of the world?

In South Florida, I don't know how ANYBODY can live
without Air Conditioning - even in the 80 degree winters.

Does it get hot here? Try 100+ degree days in the summer and humid as hell. Probably quite similar to South Florida.

My excuse for not having AC is that it might be hot in summer but it's fast all year round.
