Picked up an '82 GS, gonna sell the SE

Well, I decided that I could'nt give up on my 12a street port motor just yet. As a lot of you guys know, my 83' GSL with a fresh motor was wrecked a while back. After the accident I bought a 85' GSL-SE that I thought I wanted. I was going to transfer everything from the wreck, besides the engine, to the SE....but after I found this 82' GS, I knew what I had to do. It's amazing how much lighter the GS feels...I already found SE suspension for sale that I'm gonna put in, along with a bunch of other stuff. Today I pick up my 3rd member from the diff shop...I had 4.44's and a guru installed, which will be going in soon along with the trilink setup I've had sitting around. Here are some shots of the cars:

Holy-****! That car is awesome! The needles in your oil/volt meter gauge are still orange, even! Keeping in mind those "California Emissions" equipped cars are worth less than non-equipped counterparts , what price are you looking to get?

Thanks. It's not a California car, it has federal emission certification. I have it listed for $4500, even though I know it will be hard to get that much. I'm in no hurry however.

Sure is pretty nice man. Im glad that you havent given up on that SP motor yet . Let me know if you give uo on those Panasports though . Haha, just kidding man, I couldnt afford those. Besides, I have a piece of your old car to remember it by already, lol . Thanks again for that by the way, its amaizing how much it seems to clean up the hatch area when you cant see the wiper motor, lol.

Thanks. You know, I think it looks better on the old style dash. Does'nt it look kinda out-of-place on the SE?

no worries man, I'm glad it worked out.
Hey... I was thinking of removing the rubber molding around the GS. Do you regret removing yours?

Only because it doesnt look clean because I didnt take my time and do it right to preserve the paint. I used screwdrivers, fingernails, hammers, knives, etc. I basically used anything I could without concern for the paint because at the time, I thought I would be painting the car sooner. Now, in hine sight, I shouldve been more careful. I hear there are chemicals you can buy at auto body shops that make it really super easy, but nothing I tried seemed to make it any easier. I didnt have any money to buy anything, so I used anything and everything around the house from Goof Off to gas, and from lighter fluid to brake cleaner. I took off more paint than I did rubber, lol.

Although, I would say for the most part, I dont regret it. If I had to do again, I certainly would, I would just be more careful to preserve the paint. Hope that helps ya .

I've never heard of anyone repalcing an -SE with a GS or GSL before. Of course, the GS is about 200 lbs lighter, so if you get the 12A hp up a bit, it would be quicker than the -SE without too much trouble. Nice idea.

I had a chance at a low-mi GS with add-ons (headers, carb, etc) but passed and got the -SE instead. I'm a sucker for the better stock suspension, LSD, glass sunroof, and that funky stereo with the EQ!

Well, is the rear end still good in your old GSL? Because you could swap out the GSL rear into the GS, then still use the Panas if you didnt sell them .

I like the blue SE, just what I'm looking for to pair up with my 83GS blue. I have a nice 85GSL, silver. If I swap the silver to you for the blue, we'll both have color-coordinated stables! Is it possible?

The GS feels so much lighter. I also like how in the GS, you sit low...in the SE, you sit a lot higher for some reason. I'll be putting SE suspension on the GS, along with a Guru Torsen diff, 4.44 gears, trilink, panhard, turn-in spacers, and all the stuff i had on my GSL...tokicos, coilivers, swaybar, camber/caster plates, etc. As for the sunroof, i've come to learn that non-sunroof cars make better race cars. I hope to eventualy make the GS into a racecar one day, after I drive it as a daily driver for a long while. Ya got me on the stereo though ...that joystick fader is pretty cool

Yeah the rear end is still good on the wrecked 83', but I'd much rather go with SE setup which comes with some cool 87 626 turbo wheels,15x6 with 205/55/15 tires in great shape.

As far as the panasports, at least one of the wheels is slightly bent. I need to take them somewhere to see if they can be fixed...I think they can, they aren't that bad. Then I would need to sell them and the GSL rear end.
