Pic Request
I'd like to see the under body of any fb that is in excellant shape. I don't ever recall coming across any pics of this. Pics that include exhaust, drivetrain, suspension, rear end, oil pan, etc. Thanks

I will take some pics asap, might take a few days though, my FB is in excellent shape, I've had a few mechanics say something positive about the underbody's condition, very minimal rust, only a few very small spots that have been chipped by road debris and whatnot. I'll get them up here very soon.

There should be a few pics in my widebody build thread. It's not stock as I never re-installed the heat shields and the exhaust is far from oem. But at least it's clean.

Well, that's what one gets with the right tools, lots of sand and a great deal of work. It's also not a fun job, lol. In the long run, it's better than new with the finishes and protection that I applied. Only downside to it is sandblasting removes the galvanized factory finish.
For this to work for long term preservation, attention to detail is paramount. Any little spot missed leaves the freshly bared metal exposed to the elements and in some cases can accellerate rusting and deterioration. All rust must be removed/treated and the old seam sealer removed. I was suprised at how much rust I've found underneath seam sealer that looked sound, particularly the seams in the center of the rear wheel wells.

It's too bad I don't still have my 82 Gs. The car had 67k on it and it had been garaged all of it's life. I also don't think that it had ever been driven in the rain or anywhere near a dirt road. It was the only 7 that I have owned that the paint in the tunnel was still like it was when it came from the factory. There was zero rust or chipping underneath. The whole undercarriage was the same way.
