Question Photo Section

Cowboys,

We need a new section under generation specific, or at least a directory under 1st gen devoted just to photos of our vehicles. There's just so many beauties out there, wonderful mods, interiors, engine bays, etc., that it would be a shame not save 'em somewhere so that we could dream and drool and support each others efforts....Many of us live far from each other and will likely never see the real thing....So what do you think? Is this reasonable?

Denny, from the 'ol corncrib...

I support you brother!! Lead these people in the right direction.... How do we go about doing that.... Because sometimes a picture big time even for pointing things out in an engine bay etc. I guess we gotta speak with a moderator???

Fantastic idea,

I'm getting a bunch of pics of my car on CD next week and I was planning on showing off my seven here anyways....

I think we should PM one of the moderators, Denny are you leading the initiative?

If we can't get a page here, I'll donate space and service
possibly 1stgen.RX-7.org?
I could make a page for the members like this one http://www.rx-7.org/links/1links.htm
and even a simple page for those without webpages.
If people really wanted it. I'd help. don't want no slackers
also on the main page, you could have location and email if yah want.

That's a terrific and very generous idea Max7!

Maybe I'll have to get off my *** and do up a webpage

I'm with you guys on this one. A photo section would be great!

I could post photos of my -SE as I restore/modify it.

Hey all,

I know a while back that there was a sister site (kindof) to this that was run by Jef Card where you could upload pics of your car. I believe this is still around.

Also, if I remember correctly, there is a section on the rx7club.com site where you can do the same.

Let me do a little checking -- if I don't find them, I will talk to Ryan, Jason and the others about this posibility.

Okay all --

I did some checking, and here is what I have found:

Jef Card's old gallery appears to be gone. I tried surfing his new site, but it looks like that gallery no longer exists.

There are galleries (icluding all 3 gens and some vids) on the sister site (www.rx7club.com). My car is there for example (uploaded long ago ... before the forum existed if memory serves). There is even an option there to upload your own pics, and I believe you can log on with your forum name, although your password is probably something funky that you'll have to retrieve first.

However, there is a problem. As it is run (I believe) on the same server as the forum, there doesn't appear to be any space available at this point. I tried to upload a pic a few times, and always got a message to the effect of "there is no more disk space available in this section".

I have contacted Ryan to inquire as to the future of this option. Perhaps once we are able to complete our upgrades to our system, we will have more space availiable.

In the mean time, if somebody wants to setup their own gallery, feel free. You can always start a thread here giving the link to the gallery that you create ...

While we are talking pictures, what is the best option for sizing digital pictures? What software do ya’ll use? My camera is cranking out larger file sizes then I can post up, all I have is paintbrush and it’s a pain to shrink them down to an acceptable file size.

In advance I greatly appreciate your help!

Thumbs up Okay Max7

Sorry to hear about the lack of space, but it makes sense, Accuspeed.
As far as I can tell there's one other web page called "no pistons rotary forum." They don't have many members, maybe 100, but they do have a photo section....

But I like Max7...I know the guy, he's a neighbor, fantastic freind, and a hardcore 7 Buckaroo....If Max7 is willing, I, for one, would like to take him up on his offer. I especially like the "progress/help/how-to" Idea regarding our photos. Maybe we could create some different directories, like "how-to" "Pretty pix," "Club meet pix," "Race pix," etc. What think you all?
Max, how do we get started? What do you need from us? Please advise, and by Golly We'll do 'er!

A tip of the Stetson for Max7

Re: Okay Max7

I'm up for it! for those who don't know, I own, run, and maintain
www.RX-7.org So I have no problem creating and maintaining a place for the Forum members.

Yes I'm VERY partial to 1st gen, I'm a die hard junkie. If you seen my house you'd think of it as a shrine to the first gen.

I'm open to whatever the group wants on the page, How-to's , profiles, progress of members. As long as you guys will use it, I will build it

Thumbs up Thanx Max7

Acuspeed, threads tend to get lost in our history. Is there any way to make a section or directory that will take those interested directly to Max7's site, then back to the forum? Something referring directly to pix, or for example, someone posts "how to rebuild carb...See 1st gen pix," click on directory '1st gen pix,' and then get sent to Max7's pix site. Possible? I'd like to see something that wouldn't be exclusive to "those in the know." Without a labeled directory I can envision us constantly advising each other (not to mention newbie tenderfoots) to go to Max7's site for pix, or details on a project.

Thanx for your help, Pardner...

Very cool Jim, and thanks.

I know Jim from the Rotary Watch group buy, good guy.

Do you all want to use is pre-existing gallery (that would probably be the easiest)?

If so, lets come up with a short message we want to say about it (the gallery), and I'll past it as a "sticky" here for now (we'll include the link too of course).

Wink

I think it looks that way, Max...
The Forum will put up a "sticky," which I take to mean a "button/link" to click on that should take us to your site. We need to give it a name....I suggest, only suggest anyone can suggest, and then we can choose...."The Best of the Eldest"
"Gallery, Repair, & Mods."

Max,

That looks pretty good I think. Now all we need is a way for members to upload their pics, or a contact point for them to send their pics too. Also, we should come up with a checklist of what info should be included w/the pics, and a limit to how many pics to send or upload so it doesn't get too rediculas.

About the sticky -- that's more of a temporarly solution until I find out what is going to happen w/the forum in respect to a picture gallery. I have PM'ed Ryan about it all, however, I believe he has been gone this weekend, so we'll see what the week brings.

What the sticky will do is to keep a thread at the top of the page, regardless of how many replys it has -- that way everyone will see it when they come into the 1gen section. I agree that if we can swing it, a button link would be nicer. Like I said, the sticky would be a temp. solution (bandaid if you will) until we can come up w/a more permenant setup.
