Performance Engine Mounts for $7!!
I was bored today, and decided to take out my engine mounts, while the engine is out. I think the pics should speak for themselves. The rubber is much stiffer than the stock mounts. I'm not too worried about vibrations either, but from what i have heard the vibrations are not too bad with hockey pucks. lots of VW people run this setup aswell. Best part is it cost me 7 dollars for everything i needed, better than the 60 + shipping mazdatrix wants, and hopefully with better results. Tell me what you think.

Ill be doing this soon, provided there is an easy was to replace the mounts while the engine is still in the car... power steering might make this a hassle, but I need new engine mounts.
Is there something similar you can do to the tranny mounts? Its been a while since ive been under there. I cant even remember what they look like...

I knew you canucks were good for something
Honestly, that really looks like an outstanding idea, and vulcanized rubber shouldn't have any problems with the grease or oil getting dripped on them.

I believe its been mentioned before. I always kinda thought it was a joke myself. I personally used some air bag (suspension) mounts that a guy made out of steel. They are only about 1/8th of an inch too tall. I left the tranny mounts rubber. I definately felt a difference, especially in the floor. Thats where most vibrations are felt for me.

Heh,heh....I used hockey pucks to mount up the big Olds V-8 in my Studebaker. Its been many years and they still havent deformed or split, and thats a damn heavy engine.
I also used hockey pucks on my sister's car.Shes only about 4'10" so she has trouble reaching the pedals.I trimmed a puck to match the clutch pedal shape and bolted it on to give her a little more reach. Its nice and grippy like the stock covers and she doesnt have to scooch forward to get the clutch pedal to the floor.
