Penny in the MOP or not?
Penny in the MOP or not?
Okay, i have searched, actually i find that i search this web page so much more than i post. I would also like to say thank you to all of those people who have contributed to such a nice place for us rotor heads!
I have the MOP block off plate coming to me in the mail as i am switching to a mikuni carb setup.
I have heard people talk about putting two dimes or a penny in the cavity where the MOP mated to the front cover before putting the block off plate on... Is this worth my 1-20 cents?
And, should i make my own gasket to better seal the MOP block off plate?
Thanks guys

as long as you have a block off plate and a gasket no worries... dimes are for blocking off the 6th port actuators when removed from a S3,4,5 NA intake manifold.
The Mikuni should come setup for oil injection with barbs for lines and a lever for the rod. You may need to make a new mop rod. The 1st gen rods are too short, I've made them from a 2nd gen rod, then you need to drill the hole on the mop lever a little bigger since the 2nd gen mop rods are a larger diameter than the 1st gens. Takes a little time to get the new rod net correctly, but it's less time than premixing.
