Well why don't we take Tux the GPL'ed linux mascot, who stands tall and proud as a symbol that defies EVIL (M$) and modify him to represent our movment against the great evil that are pistons...

I use the best GUI 'nix has ever seen...
Mac OS X
I tell you, only Apple could bring unix to the mainstream and have it look good and have really nice features. I hear 10.3 is really going to rock too.

I use XP at home because of the music that I do. Linux has come a long long way with games/music apps in the last 2 years and I'm hoping I can switch over in the next year max. That said, I administer 3 Linux servers at work consider myself above average when it comes to *nix.
Things like OpenGL and the latest gnome and KDE desktops are pushing Linux closer and closer to mainstream use every day but for newbies it's still a little intimidating. I remember the day I played network Unreal with two Windows and two Linux PCs and thought "at last.. we can do this!"
It's only a matter of time until the critical mass is there and the developers seize on the opportunities a Linux desktop provide. The ball is already rolling...
Oh yeah, and I think part of the reason I love my RX-7, Linux and OS X is the pure genius behind their creation.

I'm a software developer using primarily unix systems (IRIX, AIX, Linux). This PC is a dual boot for W98 and RH 8.0. Best of all Redhat Linux is a free download off the net and my install went very good.
Yea I along with most of the others I work with do not like MS. I do have to admit there are a few MS apps that I do like. The problems I see with Linux are driver support for things like modems and scanners and a lack of quality mainstream programs. The software is almost there with openoffice, gcc, Mozilla, etc..., but I haven't found an equivalent to MS Money.
By the way the forum works great under Linux.
Go Linux.

Mac OS X is useless for games? Here's a hint - not even close. :P Hell, once RealPC comes out for Mac OS X next month, there won't be a single game that won't run under OS X...

You are kidding yourself if you think "RealPC" will be 100% compatible with all PC games. Let alone run full speed.
Emulation is NEVER perfect.
Also, the Mac has crap in terms of graphics cards, nothing like the huge variety for the PC.

Debian Developer, Old Themes.Org Project Manager, Dell's old Linux Development Team, OpenBox 3.0 Team... been using Linux/BSD for about 6 years now. Never ran anything else...
My main desktop box has a 5 year old install of debian on it, updated to the latest software. Never had a problem one. Try running Win* for 5 years, using it daily... not going to happen.

No Video Cards for Mac? Sure, we don't have 15 varieties of the Nvidia GeForce 4 Ti 4600, but we have had it available for the Mac - hell, there's one in my Mac right now. ATI cards? No problem there. The top 2 card makers out there bring their cards to the Macintosh market upon their release. Please don't recite problems you've "heard" about Macs as gospel. You come across as ill-informed and in this case, you're dead wrong to boot.
This thread is about being penguin friendly. Apple certainly is giving it a shot. Don't for one moment think that any product sloppily put together in Redmond is going to be looked at positively in this thread. Especially when there are plenty of Windows users out there who would gladly kill Balmer, Gates and his ilk if only given the chance.

Debian email server here... Have toyed with RH and Suse, but Debian is the **** for linux. Freebsd is fun too just don't have it running right now.
Mac made a huge step in moving to a more usable platform, based on BSD and therefore is much more reliable than it has ever been. BTW since it is based on BSD that means that we can tweak the code to get more stuff running for us on *nix and BSDs. We now have at least two big backers in that dept. IBM and Apple.
