Pedal Effort on Centerforce Dual Friction vs. Other?
Pedal Effort on Centerforce Dual Friction vs. Other?
I've been contemplating getting a new clutch to throw in when i put in a new 5spd, and then to swap over to my 13b and then turbo 13b later on (within the year hopefully), and i've heard only good things about the Centerforce DF.
My only questions are, what is the pedal effort like on the Centerforce DF vs. Stock
and what is the effort like on the Race PP, and the S/S PP that Mazdatrix sells, cause i wont drive anything with an effort less than stock, i hate light clutches.
lemee know. Thanks.

Centerforce clutches are weighted, and at high RPM's can actually cause the clutch to disengage and not reengage untill rpms are brought back low enough that the counterweights are being thrown about...never seen it (my trans am redlined at6k) but ive heard of it happening...and that would suck bad on the strip

Pedal effort is just like stock, the actual clamping force of the pressure plate fingers is probably the same as stock, but the weights are what gives it the extra clamping force. When I first got it installed and broken in, I played around with the clutch engagement at like 6.5K rpm and the clutch did not slip, but my OEM replacement did when it was new.
I love my CF DF. If you don't like light clutches then you don't want one. I think that the pedal effort is even lighter than stock but it is close. It is a good clutch and I am happy with it.

My brother in law had a centerforce in his 88 corolla gts and it didnt last but a year in it from driving kinda hard. He doesnt ride the clutch if you were thinking thats the case. It redlines at 7200. Yes I know it was in a different car with a different driveline.

Get the DXD clutch, but tell 'em to double spring the pressure plate and a full ceramic disc instead of ceramic/kevlar. Engage is pretty smooth(much much smoother than a normal 6puck), grips awesome(over 400hp), and pedal pressure is almost no different than stock, I could barely tell a difference. It's a bit more expensive($350 shipped) but it's a ******* sweet clutch.
