@j9fd3s Thanks for the info earlier this year on the dash stuff - super helpful. I'll be tearing it apart this winter if I can rearrange the garage enough to not have to send the car to storage.

I have another issue that popped up this weekend. The remote rear glass release failed, and it was stuck so I couldn't even use the key. I'm a big guy but I managed to crawl back and get enough apart to pop the hatch, then remove the release motor assembly. Having that out allows the key to work so I'm good there but I want it to work.

Any lead on a Mazda part number 8871-62-350B (D-CODE 62350, RELEASE, REMOTE.COM.H.B COMMANDE A DISTANCE) would be greatly appreciated. It doesn't look easy to tear apart, and not sure it would be serviceable even if I did...

I've fixed a few of these. They are the same mechanism as what's used for the hot start assist. I usually find that one or both of the small rubber bumpers inside melts down and gets clogged in the gear teeth, jamming up the mechanism. It can be cleaned up and made to work again. Here is a link to an old post. The search feature in the forums is your friend.

Thanks Banzai, I also found that the rubber stops had melted into everything and that probably caused the gears to sieze and then the large one to lose just enough teeth that it won't be reliable. For now at least it works with it out, and I can look for a new actuator.
