so i've been keeping an eye out for fb/sa rear coilovers for a while. some people use the camaro or mustang rears and other go with AE86's and not STANCE and T3 sell a full front and rear coilover kit, but in my endeavors i came across Paradise racing today on the third page of a google search. Even better, they're only an hour or so away from me in MD !

So i ask, has anyone here had experience with them? below is the link to the fb coilover page..

I know there is a lot of debate over the rear shock towers having to support the weight of the car, and these guys say

'Modifying of your inner rear body panels will be required!!!'

Someone recently posted a reply from T3 and they said no modification is needed. I wonder if paradise recommends it due to the higher spring rates and stiffer shock adjustment?

 

hmm that would be convenient for T3. the "modifying" is just cutting the panels out under the rear wheel arch so it's open and not closed. being closed only allows for a strut to fit up in there, opening it up -cutting the panel out, allows a coilover to fit. Good for T3 i suppose, i already cut my panels as i tried fitting s14 coilovers. The S13's can work but the 14's are too long i found

 

Buy the T3s. If Paradis doesn't answer, then move on. Because if you have quedo down the line, you don't want to deal with that.

 

well the reason i wanted paradise is bc 1) cheaper and 2) they're only 45 mins from me... i guess if i had questions i could just drive there - which im already thinking about doing anyway

the fronts? they're just the weld on perches like the GC ones

so i finally got a call back from him,, imagine that only 2 weeks. so he recommended rear spring rate of 550 saying it was a good balance of stiff/soft
he said i cannot pick them up bc they ship from a warehouse and i had to pay the $60 shipping

on top of that he said they're built to order... and they take 6-8 weeks. well im going to DGRR in about 5 weeks or so and need them before then (my rear cut springs rub now on bumps as is..)
i said thanks but no thanks, the time frame and no local pick up is a deal breaker.

gonna order t3's with the next pay check

 

you could save a lot of cash and do what i did. I got rear springs here: SSSN85

Then get a set of these: Speedway Adjustable Extended Spring Shim

trim the cup part, and weld it to your axle. you have adjustable rear suspension like the old re-speed stuff. i fact i think those are the same springs he used. Then match up with a shock of your choice, i used a koni yellow from a fox body mustang.

only question is what do you mean by trim the cup? is it too tall as it comes?

 

yes, that and the stock spring perch is made to accept the spring which isnt flat. so you make it fit tighter and more level.

 

ah ok i understand, so plus some shocks (i guess thrifty folks could use oem if they're not blown...) you can have adjustable rear setup for under $200 ! not bad. appreciate it i think ima give this a shot

 

yeah plus some shocks, but oem shocks wont hold up to lowered cars and high spring rates. the fox body konis are adjustable and i got them on sale for $112 each. the front koni yellows i used are from an 85-86 mr2, those were kinda pricey. they're also adjustable.
