Ok I know its a long wait and I will take pics of the step by step progress,

Im taking my engine out this weekend if it dont ****** rain...Im tempting on tring something and not sure if it will work out,Im looking for the gheyest pink I can find to paint my engine...Cause when I woop up on some stangs and ****...I want them to see the pink 12a No pistons..no heads..no valves..

I was thinking of getting my friedn to spray the plates and frotn cover with auto body paint,I think it can hold the temps of the plates..

Have any of you tried this?

If this dont work..I guess I will go to plan A red with polished intake,housings..and other parts..

i offer 2 ways to paint the plates... powdercoat $200 or high temp motor painthats good for the heat but it cant handle harshe cleanerst

 

I agree either powdercoat for the best finish while a cheaper approach is a specialist engine paint from someone like VHT

 

I always used engine/hgh temp paint for stuff like this 500 -1200 degrees ****,But I dont think they make a pink,Im going to paint ti pink cause its more as a joke then anything,How would you feel if someone handed your *** to you with a pink engine...lol Or this **** can back fire on me.

We've got it at work, we use it to paint transmission pans/cases for anyone who wants a 'custom' look. We do have a few cans of pink, actually...

We usually call CalState Auto Parts if we need any and have it dropped off, so I don't know if it can be easily obtained online, I'll check around.

Also, the powerdercoating idea isn't bad either; it's just far more expensive. Then again, you get what you pay for, right?

 

I had my housings painted when I last painted the car. Seems to have lasted pretty good so far(been over a year). I did the rotor housings in high heat aluminium.

 

Im having second thoughts on teh pink paint...what do you guys think..I dont want to be know as the guy with the pink rotary...

It really only has to cover up to maybe 250F at most. Coolant is regulated below 200F on our engines, maybe the area around the exhuast, but usually can't see that anyway.

The point is I used some "safety red" professional stuff~$3.50? sold at menards and stays fine and good on the engine if its clean while spraying and a couple coats alowing a half hour between coats. It wasn't specified as "high temp" and is still very well on. HOWEVER, I accidently spilled gasoline once on it while it was hot even the header(no fire thankfully) but gas+heat = paint bubbling and falling off were ever gas touched it. The heat probably is mostly to blame. I would look for a paint that resists gas if there is such a thing.

 

Most 'polished' motors are either powdercoated aluminium or polished then clear coated.

 

what about using that do-it-yourself powdercoat?

you know the **** you use in your home oven?

I think if you have a nice size oven and take out a tray the seperate housings would fit if the engine was dis-assembled.

maybe

you would have to remove the engine to have a company do it for you,
so why not just rip it down and replace the gaskets and paint it?
or the gaskets and apex seals, then it will be a two-for-one deal.

My Girl freind would kick my *** if she saw a rotor housing in the oven,She will kick my *** then as questions..lol

Just curious, just how hot does the oven need to be? I would be wary about shoving in my precious rotor housings(if that is what your powder coating)or iron housings into the oven and they come out warped? Is that something to be concerned about? Does the oven needs to be 300F or so?

I have infact helped in powder coating before in a shop envirment, so long ago, and it was only to suspension and external parts with non essentail

 

You WILL warp your aluminum rotor housings if you powdercoat them in a high-heat application.

The best engine paint?

No paint, and Very clean.

 

I love the polished look
