from that pic the paint looks ok. it dosent look to be pealing or dis-coloring.

i say ditch the stereo and spend that money on performance parts... i figure you get the sucker to rumble loud enough you wont need a stereo any way cuz you cant hear it

Yah performance parts. You don't need a stereo when you can bump 100dB of ported goodness

well, since its high on your list, then get the stereo, i would say performance, but it seems like you might need to get the cra running perfect first...

Hm. If i were you my first priorities would be:

1) Lower the car (eibach pro kit, maybe cut one coil)
2) Rims/tires (either do a gsl-se suspension swap as well, thus allowing a myriad of rims, or get ROH snypers or Kosei K1's)
3) Stereo
4) Ignition. Get a new distributor cap/rotor/new wires/new plugs. maybe an MSD 6A or two.
5) Remove A/C (if you have it), any other un-necessary engine accessories, get yourself an electric fan setup, ditch the bee-hive oil cooler for the gsl-se front mounted cooler setup, and you'll be good there.
6) Engine, intake, and exhaust. Upgrade your carb, get a full racingbeat exhaust, cold air intake.

if you want any more of my opinion you can PM me or something.

Get a can of polishing compound and attack the current paint. If it comes out looking good (and you don't mind the color) then spend the money elsewhere.

I would go with paint, more people can appreciate it. I opted stereo and now wish I went with paint. Its easier to put off a paint job than a stereo purchase. Ive been putting off a paint job for 6 years now..

i would go paint. I bet there is rust u cannot see hiding. Paint first cause what are u going to do with a stereo when the car is rusting.

thanks for the opinions, i only have $600 and dont think that will get me a very good paint job, so now im thinkin "will $600 cover a gasket kit and a profesional SP?" cause i am cofedent i can rebuild one of the engines in my garage, but the grindin away at sumthin that wont grow back is a little frightening.
ioTus: ur list looks good if you flip it upside down, plus i just want a nice car to drive not nesessarily a fast one so the A/C will be hooked back up when it gets warmer.

IF you're just looking for a daily street car, than i would reccomend doing my list in order ;-)

Engine work is expensive, at least 1800 unless you do it yourself.
