Paint compatibility Question

The original paint is Acrylic, I wanna respray it in 2k basecoat(colour)/topcoat (clear), I'll need to seal between the two paint(s), But my question is, 'is it a realiable way of resprayin, how much prep work is envolved, our is it worth to take the tym to bare metal it all? The orig paint is in excellent condition but don't really like the two tone effect and not looking forward to polishing it every two months "I'm lazy" I know! any seggustion theories etc. would be helpful aspecially if somebody has done it all before and how they did it. Cheers once again, Jay

As for taking the car to bare metal, its not worth it if the original paint is still in good shape. You may not have to seal between the two paints but if you do any body work its good to do it so you don't get any edges peeling. Ask the place you buy the new paint. Base/clear is great if you are doing metalic color, you can get good consistant metalic spread without worrying about shine. I've found if you follow the directions its hard to go wrong.
