you need a rack out of a diesel jetta (early one). Most rabbits have different steering systems from what you need. I did a bunch of research on this a while back, but I forget all the exact details. I do remember I got mine off a diesel jetta at the junkyard.

You probably won't find it. Most people use a junkyard rack. Also, I thought it said specifically on the site that you need a rack from an early 80's VW Rabbit?

Probably wont find what? The exact rack they used or the part number on the rack? I think it should have a part number on it somewhere. I'm working with someone on locating it, but a part number of the original would be nice.

bump for those who own a cp racks please chime in.

thanks much

Yeah but I think the point of getting the exact part number is so he knows for sure what car it is out of. So far everyone on heres answers have been "I think it was so and so"

CP Racing sells a kit to make the VW rack work. Its overpriced though and IMO not worth it.

^^ Good luck trying to get ANYTHING from CP racing.

Last I herd someone is still waiting for thier parts, that they ordered a year ago. Not to mention refunds ect.

I'm not sure but I think there's a write-up. If not there should be

I don't want to be a jacka$$ either, but the post says Owners of CP Racing Rack & Pinion apparently you're not an owner or you would of told me the part number and who are you to come into my post and police it. Are you a moderator?

Everyone else thanks for helping out. I want the part number because I'm working with a guy through email that works at a junk yard. So he was asking for a part#. Looks like I wont be getting a part number so he is now asking me for a year spread to narrow it down some.

So far early 80s VW diesel rack can anyone else confirm?

thanks

That's odd. The kit was advertised as using a Rabbit rack so that if you wanted, you could upgrade to a GTI rack with a much quicker lock-to-lock ratio.

One more reason I'm glad that I didn't waste my money on that kit.
