Out with the 6 and in with the 7.

Well I'm finally back into rotaries. After owning 3 FDs and one RX-8 I wanted to get back into it. I sold my 2006 Mazdaspeed 6 because I was tired of making 2 car payments and I needed a daily driver but with more potential. So picked this up. The car runs pretty good, just need some cleaning and adjusting on the carb to make it perfect. The windows/door seals need replaced and the interior needs new seat covers and a good cleaning. Exterior has 2 small rust spot. A/C works like a champ, tranny shifts pretty good. IMO not a bad purchase for $1500 never wrecked and clean title.

My plan is pretty simple:
-replace all the rubber seals
-change the seats to some Corbeau GTS II
-change the interior color from red to gray/black
-manual tranny swap
-paint the car to the original red color
-Weber downdraft carbs
-electric fan
-aluminum radiator
-full exhaust
-RE Speed coil over kits
-ZG fender flares and rims to go with it

Now what I need to decided is what bolt pattern I want. I like the selection there is with 4x100 but that requires adapters or swap for GSL SE axles or RE Speed kit and put FC hubs and brakes with the 5x114.

any inputs as for my plans would be appreciated it.

This was my MS6

Now that's a stimulus plan I could live with. What are your monthly profits from dumping the car note, about $500? And that one looks like it's in great shape, unmolested, a steal at $1,500. Those are good plans, but you might want to just get it on the road and drive it first, you might find what you got ain't that bad.

I love the silver FBs with the sun roof, I have a silver 85 GSL, red leather interior, glass sun roof waiting for my current daily driver to retire, if it ever dies (white 84 GSL, sun roof, red leather). I've added 82,000 miles to the 83,000 miles on the White One when I got it, doing my daily 110 mile commute. repairs have been mininal and I used the money saved to buy a full racing beat street exhaust.

No better daily driver than a first gen, in my opinion.

Well the car drives fine, just need to get it registered and adjust carb. It bogs if I floor it. Saving $700 a month now. Drop the car payment and also used the money left over to pay some of my wife's college loans. Also major drop in car insurance.

Well I will get another FD in the winter and drop a 20B in it. I plan on putting the 13B-REW in this car.

The MS6 was a fun car, just hard to mod.

If you're ready to purchase a nice Weber kit for your carb, hit me up. Also, in terms of getting the Corbeau seats, where are you planning to custom fab seat rails?

Edit: Just noticed they have seat brackets on their website for 79-85 Mazda, nice!

I'm buying a good roller car to do the manual swap, gray interior swap and few suspension and other goodies. If I sell some items that came off the MS6 soon I would hit you up on it. BTW how much are you asking for them?

As you can see I started tearing up the interior.

What a coincidence! I am a Speed6 owner, and I just picked up a nice 84 GS recently as well. Looks like you got a nice project on your hands. Shame you had to part ways with the Speed6. Although they do have a lot of potential, they don't have as much potential as the 7. Good luck to you on your new purchase, and welcome to the community.

BTW what Speed6 parts do you have for sale?
