Talking Ottawa Canada rx7

Hey all !... I just wanted to start a place where all Ottawa RX7 people can come on, trade interesting ideas, meetups and all other interesting things. You of course don't have to come from Ottawa but still, this thread could be interesting as it will talk about alot of RX7 happenings in this area.

I heard of the meetup at the Corel center in May, hopping I will see alot of you over there! I unfortunatly won't be going in my 7 cuz my engine blew on me last week =*(((((. Nevertheless, I was hoping maybe this certain friend of mine could let me hop into his 7 :PpP ...

BTW: If anybody out there has or know where I could find a 12A engine, that works good, and is inexpensive, PLEASE LET ME KNOW ! ... These engines are SOOO good, but yet SOOO hard to find ! I have had suggestions to put a v8 in instead but that completely ruins the point of this fine automobile :PpP.

NE ways, I hope we'll see alot of posts !
Eric.

For the engine, e-mail me at : sk8guy2@hotmail.com
thanks !

I can't blame him for wanting to get a thread for his local sect running.... Unless you *really* try it's hard to find the Ottawa 1st gens in this forum. I'm pickin' them out one at a time slowly... But I can understand that it probably should have waited until more than 5 posts :P

There's no need to go to Orangeville

RX7Heaven in Gloucester is a great place. They're on Power rd.. hold on..

5548-A Power rd.
Gloucester
(613_822-3191

Get off the Queensway at St.Laurent and take it down, past the Museam of Sci and Tech.. Keep going.... and going... and going.... and going... until it dead ends in the middle of bumfuck nowhere. (a T Junction) . Turn right, you can't miss it up and over the hill

Alot closer than orangeville for damn sure! They do a lot of used part stuff, but do your homework on the forum first and be as wary with them as any other mechanic... But they have a parts yard with like 40 Rx7s.

I got my master and slave clutch cyls (45, 25$ respectively) and a starter (75$) from them, and am happy with it. Yes they're rebuilt, but who cares?

RX-7 Heaven is garbage... search on the Can forum for many horror stories. It's a very very shady place. They scam people into doing things like paying $75 for an old starter, ("rebuilt" at RX-7 Heaven means sat in the yard for 10 years and got hosed off).

Anyways, hit the Canadian forum, that's where we all talk.

Well for a lot of work, you can either do it yourself, or for things that are common to all cars (y'know, like brakes) the usual places like Midas will do.

I just fall back on RX7heaven for used parts because of the fact that they've bought pretty much every Rx in every junkyard within 2 hours of here... so pickings are slim... when you're faced with a choice between the Mazda dealership, Rx7Heaven, or paying huge american conversion rates, prices, and shipping (from mazdatrix or racing beat) then you go to Rx7heaven.. EVEN IF it means paying 75 for an old clunker starter... I want my rex on the road *that* badly

Jon

PS: I barely have time for this forum, but I'll check out the Canadian one at some point. I did a few weeks ago and found out about the Corel Centre Meet in May

Well, I brought it over there cuz I`m pretty sure a rotor fucked up and the apex seal too. He has ben in buisness for 20 yrs so I figure he knows more of what he`s doing then a normal mechanic. I obviously want my rex on the road *That bad* and especially for the Corel Center meet up so I had to get it.. FAST .. + towing it far away was out of the question so.

Thanks for all the ideas guys and if you still wanna continue this forum we can no prob !

Last time I checked, you can get a fresh rebuilt starter at Canadian Tire, with a warranty, for less than that!

Dude, you're better off leaving your car in the local high school parking lot on friday night with the keys in the ignition than leaving your car over there.

lol.. what like they'd steal it :P?

I hear alot of random accusations, but does anyone have any experiences specifically with them that sucked?

And if that's the case, any suggestion where I could get:
both front brake calipers
both rear wheel cyls
pads
shoes
lines
and machine the rotors

for an '84 GS? I'm not taking it to Canadian Tire, not if my life depends on it... and I'm reluctant to buy parts that are generic and not meant for the Rx7

Yes! There are forum members here who have had them steal parts off their cars. There have been incidents with the police, etc.

These aren't random accusations! There are numerous specific experiences - search the Canadian forum and see for yourself.

If you need more persuasion that they're shady, how about the article in the Citizen saying that Doug had died and his teenage daughters now run the place (LOL!!!). Too bad he's still alive, getting drunk 24/7 while he works on cars and living in the attic above the shop eh?

For pads, shoes, rotors, etc, go to KVR or something like that. Many of us would recommend Hawk HP+ for the pads.

I wasn't endorsing letting CT work on your car LOL, but there's no problem getting a starter or a fuel filter from them.
