options for a rear spoiler
ive searched the forum and google images for a 1st gen with a spoiler something like this and i really wanna see it
i wanna see something similar cause i think it would make the rear of the car more appealing.
it looks funny without anything in its place
sorry to say that
so what have people done?

theres one that Ive seen with a wing like that. It had a highly modified rear end with acura tail lights. It looked like crap, but the rear end was not helping for sure. First gens tend to look best with the factory lip style spoiler, in all its variations IMO

Mariah has a pic of one on their website with wide rear fenders and I think the spoiler from the Mode Six FC widebody. I wouldn't do wide fenders just on the back, either both ends or not at all. I think it looks pretty killer, though, if you're set on an upright wing.

I had a Wings West Supra style wing on my first SE and liked it.

The only pedestal/adjustable style wings on 1st gens that look good are on widebody cars or are the wings that slant way back from the car.

Kyle, if you put something like that on your car, you won't make it out of your driveway without getting pulled over. Sorry, but that really is the way that it works.
In reality, a wing like that won't do you a damn bit of good anyway. Your car doesn't pull enough horsepower to lug around that kind of drag, all it's going to do is slow you down and ruin your gas mileage. Unless, of course, you angle it so that it doesn't really do anything at all, but I'm sure you already know what's wrong with that option.
Here's one possible option for you: I'm considering replacing my origninal 3 piece spoiler with a Mazda Racing unit. It might be up for sale if anyone were interested (hint, hint)

If that's the big ducktail spoiler that the REspeed car had, then yeah. I've always wanted one.
Although I was considering doing a huge wing, looking for major downforce at speeds as low as 45mph. It would only be used for autocross, so I was thinking about quick release strategies and such, but then that would be a pain. Besides, I don't want to look cool only when I'm racing. So the ducktail is a nice compromise.

Agreed. These cars in the opinion of many do NOT look good with large outrageous spoilers. Although I did come across this one recently that I didn't find overly offensive.

It took me a long time to decide about wings on my widebody.
I would have gone bare, rather than attach a universal Pepboys carbon/aluminum/pedestal style wing......or even a legit "race" wing of the same basic style. It just didnt look right on an older car that has good lines without a spoiler.I had already used a ducktail wing on my car before the widebody,so that was old hat and I didnt like any of the wings that Mariah offered to go with their widebody kits.
I finally convinced them to make me an IMSA wing from an old mold they had sitting around from the 80's. Nobody that worked in the glass shop had made one before,it had sat unused for so long,so they farmed it out to an outside shop to make.It cost me a bit more, but was worth the expense for the originality factor and the history since the same wing was used in real racing.
Does my car need it?......no, I wont argue the matter, its just dead weight. But my car has always straddled the line between form and function. It is daily driven,a lot of work went into making the performance side practical enough for a streetcar, but still having it be a legit threat on the track, should I choose to go racing.

i think im my SA a smallish style wing is decent looking....as to the cops i already have them looking at my car because of the exhaust noises and the bright blue paint job
i still am overall debating on this im more after look/preformance, something that isnt outragously huge and something not too small
spoilers are pain in the butt....

The side and rear skirts are custom modded Wings West? pieces. They went on years before the widebody and I wanted to keep them,so they got cut down and blended in.
