Talking opinions on new wheels for my car

I'm doing an SE suspension swap on my GSL this weekend I think. I want your guys opinions of the wheels I'm proposing to get. I think they look pretty good and have a decent lip (which is one of the most important things to me). Only think i'm undecided on is 15x7 or 16x7. I want to run 225/50 in the rear and 205/50 in the front for the staggered look.

What do you guys think? And what offset do I want to be able to run 225's in the rear and not rub? MY car is lowered 1.5 inches for refference.

EDIT: found one more wheel I think looks amazing! http://www.tiretrends.com/wheel_cata...p3?wheelID=540

Personally, I like the MBs, and if you can get them in gold/bronze with a polished lip, they are gorgeous.

Nice. Probably kinda heavy, being cheaper wheels, but look good.

*Very* nice. Those look really good.

I still like Enkei's RSF-2, myself - they're what I'm wanting to put on my SE-suspensioned '79:

I like the MB wheels better.

I have 16x7.5" 40mm offset momo wheels on my car, stock height (lots of wheel gap) with 225-40-16 on the back without any rubbing!

I'm now selling my wheels to upgrade to 17" wheels, I would suggest that you consider 17" from the start, with afew inches of lowing and 17" wheels you achieve a great look.

I'd say go 16x7 in the front and a 16x8 in the rear. For the offset 40mm is perfect unless you have ground control coil-overs... if you do get a larger offset like 44mm or 45mm.

Mine are 40mm and sit perfectly with the fenders and no rubbing.

P.S. My factory rims have 225 in the rear, no rubbing.

Wow, I was under the impression that 215 was the widest you could go without using a widebody kit. I have heard that they rub. BTW, I like the 1st ones better. The spokes on the second ones look too wimpy.

215 in front might be the widest, I have 205's up front.

They look good to me. I'm planning to go with 16x7's also.

I like the 5 spoke style--though those are kinda thick--and undecided on the riveted appearance .

Thanks for opinions guys. well I think the mb motoring only come in a 38mm offset so those might be a no no.

and the axis wheels only come in 19 inch apparently!

Jimmy is your car lowered? My car is lowered 1.5 inches with b&g springs so its sits fairly low. Offset is now crucial if i want to run 225's in the rear without rubbing.

PFFFFT 38mm is just fine.

here is my car's specs:

>Eibach Prokit (older style) lowering kit. it sits LOW!!

>Konig Tuner 16x7 rims, front and rear, 38mm offset.

>BFG Ricer (Euro) T/A 205/40/16 tires all around.

No rubbing WHATSOEVER. Plenty of room both sides.

My plans for tire upgrades next week are Yokohama AVS ES100's, 205/45/16 front and rear

How much does that kit lower your car? Mine is lowered 1.5 inches and its damn low. With that offset...do your rear wheels pop out a bit of the wheel well, sit flush, or sit tucked in a bit?

17s are too big/bling on a first gen, imo.

I've got 16x7.5 all around and love them, but I'm not lowered yet, but I need to do that soon...

There is no telling how much it lowered from "stock" because stock sagged so much.

I had about 4" of wheel gap in the rear, and about 4.5" gap in the front (did some weight reduction). So i'd say these dropped it about 2.5", which NO lowering kit claims to do. SO i dont know what to tell you. but here you go:

I have a set of (borrowed) Tuners on my '79, but I must say that they look much better in 16" than the 14s on my car:

My car is lowered an inch all around with 14s on it, and there isn't too much gap.

Kind of hard to tell the amount of gap in the following picture, but it's about 2 fingers or so in front and probably one finger in the rear.

i've decided to go with rota gt3's 16x7 with a 40mm offset. These are the sickest wheels i've seen for my car. I'll be going 205/40/16 up front and 225/40/16 in the rear.
