opinions need on paint color

my car was originally spark yellow and wondering if it would be worth it to repaint it back to the original color or not? if not i plan on repainting my car this winter a glossy white

i was told the 79 in spark yellow were really limited and hard to get your hands on
is this true?

opinions on this would be great
thanks
kyle

I have a 79 SY as well. It was painted black by the PO, I plan on going back to yellow when I get the funds. Im not sure how rare the color was, Im sure one of the SA gurus will chime in.

Kyle, any color would have to be better than your current turquoise paintjob...

Check this thread from a couple months back:
https://www.rx7club.com/1st-gen-general-discussion-207/spark-yellow-history-questions-958824/

The ebay seller says only 356 Spark Yellow were made, but who knows. Makes a good story.

Whether that number is true or not, they were uncommon. I graduated from university in '79 and thought about buying one. Wish I had!

<chuckle> Kyle, you're a young guy. Don't listen to old guys like me. Do what you like.

If all the underhood parts are still yellow, there's an advantage to staying factory correct.

If the car is in decent shape and you'd like to keep top $ value, factory original is still best.

But then I look at a cartoon of a camo'd Datsun 510 with P-40 Warhawk teeth...
http://community.ratsun.net/ and say "Wow! That would be RIGHTEOUSLY cool on an rx-7!"
