Guys, we have to try to walk a very thin line between dicussing and flaming here. Let's try to keep that in mind if we dont want this thread to get closed like the others.

This whole horspower issue is what got me into this discussion in the first place. Arguing about horsepower figures isnt permitted on this forum, so maybe we could discuss this with diplomacy... maybe other people on here could get something out of it too. Let's present what was said and see if it's possible or not... that way, in the end, everyone will be aware of what a stockport 12A is capable of.

The original claims where... Stockport 12A w/198.9HP at the flywheel, 154.8HP at the wheels with 185ft lb's of torque. This was acheived using a header with straight pipe, dual webbers and some ignition mods.

In my experience (I've been working on Rotaries for about 7 years... still a newbie ). The absolute most I've been able to get out of a stock port 12A is aprox. 140-150hp at the flywheel. To get these figures I've had to run full racing exhaust systems and big aftermarket carbs (currently a Dellorto). I've found that other mods like loosing the clutch fan and ignition mods help, but only account for a couple extra HP. If there was a way to squeeze an extra 50HP! out of this engine, I'm assuming I would have heard of it by now. If I've missed something... I want to know how! NOW!! lol.

The claimed torque figure is even more disturbing. A '93 FD R1 puts out about 217lb ft of torque. This figure is only 32lb ft above the claimed 185 from the 12A. I'm scratching my head as to how this is possible. Even a clueless dyno operator would have trouble screwing up that bad. The most powefull stock port 12A's I've seen have had torque figures that where MUCH (much!) lower than that.

Anyone have any answers? Maybe Saint007 can shed some light on how he acheived these figures? Remember, let's not start arguing about this... if this guy knows something we dont, maybe we will all learn something in the end.

Orignially posted by stupid *** dyno sheet:
154.8HP at the wheels with 185ft lb's of torque.
A rotary will never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever EVER!!! make more torque than hp on a dyno. Sorry. Either someone fucked up royally on the dyno, or he's bullshitting. I don't care. I'll just stick to being "jealous", even though my car looks better Heh.
