One more thread to close...

(This was meant for the other closing threads thread, but hey, I guess I don't type fast enough...)
-Sticking nose where it doesn't belong...-

Honestly, Matt, you come off as being very brash and cocky on here, which isn't truly bad, but tends to step on nerves. You don't have anything to prove to anyone here. If people don't want to believe you about your car, just let it slide as their loss.

RXcetera, it is your right to chose what you will and will not believe. If you chose not believe Matt, that is fine. But every single thread he posts, you or someone else will start in on him with the flames. As this happens more and more, he has became more brash. In fact, his attitude in his posts is a direct reflection of the way he is treated.

I have personally met him. He drove over an hour and a half to deliver a racing beat exhaust to me. We met in Lexington, and he had his father with him. We talked in the parking lot at Best Buy for over an hour, and I left feeling that I had met good people. I have never seen his car. I have not seen dyno slips. I have no trouble believing him. Period. With the knowledge of cars that his father has to help him build his car, and the mods that he has performed, why wouldn't it? Maybe if other people would cut him a little slack, rather than flaming him at every post, you could benefit from getting to know a good person.

And Matt... Lighten up. Quit letting stupid stuff get to you.

I use to talk Matt alot thru ICQ, then one day he fell off the earth.
(I think it was after the wing upside down deal)
he was pretty kewl to talk to, yah he may of overrated a few things, I can think of a dozen people that do. and he can be short tempered. and stubborn, but basicaly another rotorhead.
I do belive some people should read what they type before they hit the reply/send key.

Basicaly we are all in this small group, weather we have a bone stock 12a, a V8 conversion (ahem) or a full blown turbo conversion. We just have to learn that people are people, and if you don't agree with what they say, just be kind.

remember some poeple swore up and down the earth was flat!

OK, I'll behave. Note that I have NEVER engaged in flaming activities in this section of the forum except for Saint007's last 2 threads. I guess I have a tendency to only pay attention to the technical aspects discused in threads... not opinions, but when someone brings up something that is honestly technically impossible and promotes it as fact... I start voicing my opinion. I'll keep it clean next time... promise. But a guy can only take so much...

can anyone give me a good reason that the last thread was closed? It seemed fine to me, but that's exactly what I'm talking about. LET PEOPLE ARGUE, it happens, and if someone comes in being a jerk, then delete their post and let the thread continue. They'll get ticked off and probably give up on it.

Arrow Don't blame me. I'm slow.

TheSaint007 == Matt; That much I know from your stuff above.

Then in reading this thread, I put 2 and 2 together and got 1979 as in Matt 1979.

Welcome back dude.

It is rare that we make public a decision such as this, but as there is a persistence to know ...

The reason the last thread was closed has as much to do with recent history as it does with what was currently in that particular thread. The very subject of rear 'wings', with many of the same participants, was brought up in the recent past. The ensuing maylie was a true mess. Further, when the entire thread is likely to bring up similiar responses, you can't just delete one resoponse (as another similiar one will appear shortly and take it's place). Finally, when an individual posts in a somewhat antagonistic manner (whether intended or not), any resoponses to such are also likely to be negative.

As I said before, it is ultimately a judgment call on behalf of the moderator. If that's not a good enough explanation, then I'm sorry ... that's just the way it is.

Opinions don't mean jack sh*t

My opinion:

His wing is his wing. If he asks for opinions about his wing, then he should expect some people not to like it. That's life. Not everybody likes everyhting.

Everybody here, knows he's a little touchy about the subject, so if he asks about his wing, just don't reply. You know he'll get ticked if you say you don't like the wing. He'll take it personally and wanna get you back somehow. So just don't say anyhting or make something up.

He is a at fault for taking the opinions that he did ask for too personally. But you guys are also at fault for responding, knowing that he'll get ticked off and flaming back at him. Leave him be, everyone will be happier about it.

No more of this:

Now for you idiots out there that made fun of my wing from before...suck my you know what!...

...so you a-holes that are gunna try and jump on it just for there being a gap underneath the base plate and no bolts, can suck my you know what 2X...

Coulda' just left it at I don't like the tail lights or the wing. Dont need to add in you need to trash it or it's hideous, or anyhting. Just leave it at you don't like it.

I'm touchy about anything on my car, simply because it's my property. I chose to buy it, not you, so don't bother me about it. If you don't like it, keep quiet, or just make your opinion heard and don't grind the issue out into a fully blown arguement. I've had a few arguements at school over my car, including one where someone said my car was a piece of ****, and it was worth less than my friends rusted out 1985 Subaru GL with 300K +..... Stupid kid... My car may not look or sound that nice (holes in exhaust) right now, but it will look awesome when I'm finished with the body work and the interior (that's when I get a job). I understand how Matt feels, but there's no need to overreact. It just leads to being hated by everyone ... It shouldn't, but it does.

Keaponlaffen, you can admit your car might not be perfect and dont worry too much about what people say about it right?. If you where to post up a thread about it and some people replied your car was a POS, you could deal with that because it's up to YOU to like your car, not everyone else.

The problem arises when a guy starts what seems to be an honest thread seeking opinions on his car from fellow rexers. I think in this case, it's totaly normal for people to point out what they dont like and even to voice their opinions about why they dont like certain things on this guy's car. If this guy is bold enough to ask everyone "hey, what do you guys think about my car?", he should be tough enough to deal with "I dont like it... I THINK it looks ugly".

Accusing people of envy because they dont like what you own doesnt seem like a good strategy... even defending your car is pretty futile in this case. If I where this guy, I'd try to realize that everyone is entitled to their own opinions and can ultimately voice them how they choose... and I'd stop asking everyone for their opinions on the car!!!

RXcetera - Yeah, I can deal with people not liking my car, it's called selective hearing, and I use it whenever the couple of people are around me in the shop at school. I can tell they don't really hate the car that much though, 'cause they're all fighting for who gets to ride in the car during the test drive up and down the parking lot when I change something. (I don't speed, really, the speed limit in the school parking lot is definitely 60km/h).... heh....

If you can't handle what ppl say about your car then don't ask for opinions. Very simple. Not everybody is going to like the same things as you. Personally, I can't stand those big ugly friggin' wings. That's my opinion. I will never put one on my car, but that's me.

I have my RX because I love it and most ppl hate it, which make me love it even more. I like when ppl inquire about how "it" runs. When I hear negative things about it, I just don't listen. I know how to not let it bother me. I believe kaeponlaffen said it was "selective hearing".

Just accept critism, good or bad....

Heres what I think...

This coming from a reformed Taoist, Buddhist, Confuciunist, Existentialists....point of view.

You can bash my car all you want from now on, cause all it does is make me feel bigger Take this as an example.

Old Billy Bob down the road sees Sir Will The 3rd get a new Ferrari F50. He knows darn well that his piece of crap Ford Mustang GT has nothing compared to this guys car. BUT....he will go out of his way to flip Sir William off everytime he sees him in town. Backstab him at the local barber shop, talk about him in his Burger King kitchen that he works at, and even dream about beating the living daylights out of him.

And the whole reason comes down to this, ole Billy Bob is just a jealous guy thats lets the green eyed monster of Envy take over his normal thoughts. Instead of getting to know Sir William and perhaps talk a bit about his exceptional ride, and maybe even become friends and actually learn something he didn't know. He'd rather squeal his 2 dollar rims and tires every time he sees him at an intersection.

If he stopped for one moment, and thought like a Confucianist...he'd remember the wise words of Confucious himself when he said "I take only the side of an argument that is right, no matter who it is, friend or enemy, right is right. That is the way of the true gentlemen". And as far as I am concerned, just like Jesus freaks who want to make sure everyone around them has I love Jesus branded into their skulls, people who want to flame another fellow rotorite just to make their own egotistical point are in the same category. I say this...."Greetings, I am pleased to see that we are different. May we together become greater than the sum of both of us."

I leave you with this...and the next time you feel like bashing me...I'll remember my mothers old wise quote passed down from our forefathers "sticks and stones, they may break my bones. But words, they will never hurt me"

"This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness."
-- Dalai Lama

Kinda hard to meet someone at the intersection when there are hundreds if not thousands of miles away.
Although I have met a few, traveling from East coast to West coast events.
I think the big thing with people is being able to backup what you say. I remember when alot of people told me I'd never be able to fit 16" rims on my car.
saying you don't have to prove anything is ok, if you don't try to show anything.

Or like a good game of poker, you can bluff all you want, but you gotta lay the cards out sometime.

Saint007, that seems like an awfully long post just to express your views that your car is somehow superior than everyone elses on here. Ferrari F50? I didnt know the made those in beige :p .

I have a great RX-7, just like most people on here. In fact, I have a couple... many of the people disagreeing with you have cars that are even better and nicer than yours ! How do you figure we "envy" your ride? Or do you somehow beleive we envy you??

People on here discuss and argue what they like and dislike about each other's cars every day. Very rarely do I see people get upset at other peoples opinions of their cars. Do you think maybe this could somehow be an issue YOU need to deal with?

Let's not forget who started this pissing contest... you DID ask for people's opinions of your car and you where the first to get upset when those opinions werent to your liking...

Wink My car is a big piece of crap

Hi Guys,
Maybe its because I'm an "old married guy" but I don't mind
people thinking my car is shitty because I know it is not. All I do when someone puts it down is shrug because it shows they don't really want to understand it. I can take it on the highway set the cruise and turn up the tunes and all the world is right again.
And just when the kid in the 'stang nest to me is sleeping I can open his eyes'.

When it gets down to it it doesn't matter what the other guy says about your car because he doesn't own it, do what will make you happy because that is all that counts. And give someone else credit for doing something different because it takes guts not to be normal.

Personally, I don't give a **** what sort of wing someone puts on his car. As we all know everyone one has different tastes and different opinions on what looks good and what doesn't. Much like ones taste in women.

But something has to be said when someone claims their stock port 12A made 200hp on the dyno. Now, I'm not gonna come straight out and call that person a liar. Afterall, you would have to be pretty stupid to KNOWINGLY make a false claim like that to people who know these cars inside and out. Maybe that's what the dyno said and he simply didn't know any better or doesn't have enough experience with rotaries to know that it can't be right. Maybe the dyno is faulty or out of calibration? Who knows.

Point is, next time someone says something like that maybe we should try explaining nicely why it simply isn't possible instead of tearing his head off. Can't we all just get along. Ant BTW, MAX hp out of a stock port 12A is around 150hp at flywheel. Period.

Wow man, you hit the nail right on the head.. we're all obviously jealous of you because we don't like your wing and taillights.

Can't you accept the fact that people just don't like some things? If you gave me that wing/taillights, I would first try to sell them on eBay cause I'm a poor broke bastard, if nobody wanted to buy them, I'd toss the taillights in the trash, and maybe save the wing (if it's adjustable and gives reasonable downforce) for my converted FB TurboII for track days @ Mid-Ohio, cause that's about the only place I'd be seen with that thing on my car. So, sorry, but we just don't like what you've done to your car. We're not jealous of you (although my 3 FB's could use a paint job), we just don't like the stuff you put on it.

It's that simple. You asked, we replied, you yelled, we said "you asked", you said "you're just jealous", we rolled our eyes.
