Which One????

ok ok, i'm very torn in a motor decision right now. my 84 gs is about to get a swap. i was very set on doing a tII motor swap but it's going to be a daily driver and i want reliablity. er go, N/A right? well today i came upon a guy thru a friend of mine that is selling his 91 6-port 13b n/a motor that has only 4,000 miles on the rebuild. 3mm apex seals too. nice if i get that i want to slap a carb on it, good exhaust setup, and be done. i am wanting a nice, reliable, fun, daily driven street car that i can do the occassional race or two and autocross every now and then. if i do this then i can build a monster tII for another car, just curious as to who has done an N/A swap in to the FB and what their results are. HORNBM, chime in please hahaha. thanks guys.

I've done this exact swap. 91 street port into my 82 chassis. I installed a Weber with a 6-port intake. The secondaries are perminently open. You may loose some low end but in going from a stock 12a, you'll never know it. Power is phenominal. It'll drop my Integra GS-R easily so it'll get to 60 in at least 6 - 6.5 seconds.

There are a couple of issues with the Weber however. There's no choke so the car doesn't want to run if the temp is below about 50F. You can fix this by setting up a quasi-choke by manually holding the throtttle open with the old choke ****. I didn't. Since the Weber is a 2 barrel, you have to pick where you want the power in the rev range. Above 4000 on my car, it pulls like hell. Open throttle to closed throttle will richen the mixture enough to cause it to backfire every once in a while, although not consistantly. The only other thing is again, because it's a 2 barrel, there is a slight stumble under steady throttle. Not a big deal, but noticable.

I was getting about 19mpg on the highway, 13-15mpg commuting so mileage was very reasonable. Because it's a Weber, I didn't need to buy a new fuel pump, the 12a pump works fine.

Overall, I like it alot. Having said that though, I'm converting to FI for the improved drivability and emmissions.

Hey if you want my carb, intake and fuel pump, they're for sale.

lol, i'll post it up when i possibly get rid of it. it's an eribuni front air dam. i don't think they make it anymore. it was part of a decent whole body kit. it looks WAY BADASS if you have a mild widebody kit too!
