IN Once again a first gen FB owner- old face new car 83 GS

I'M BACK... Anyone remember me?

Well after watching my son do about anything and everything on an I phone or a computer and not knowing a damn thing about simple hand tools or mechanics, I feel it was time to get him a proper 'education'. This poor car is a basket case, poor thing was abandoned and left parked behind a garage. Last time on the road was 1997.. $310 towed it home.. I figure it would be easier for me to teach on something simple to work on and something I know a great deal about!

Fuel tank is garbage, and most fuel components. 5 gallon gas can started it with a new fuel pump and filter... Needs a carb rebuild, so I did the poor man no parts version. It runs and runs pretty good, brakes locked up and clutch is toast so no drive. Ordered about $600 worth of parts, all clutch hydralics, brake parts, calipers, rotors etc. Anyway, there's quite a few misc parts I need. Not too much right now, cause most are body parts. But I do need a tensioner for the drivers door. Im tired of the door shutting on my leg. I NEED the little part that bolts to the door above the lower hinge, it rights on the pin mounted to the lower hinge. It hold tension so the door stays open... Looks to secured with one 12 mm bolt. Im dealing with some rust issues right now, but I got a plasma cutter, MIG welder, quite a bit of steel and a whole gallon of POR-15

Thanks guys and its nice to be back!

What do you know about aftermarket leather seats? The seats are WASTED! Its close to driving, not that Im going anywhere really, I just need to move it around the house.

Not even interested in trying to get this paint to look decent. After we get it running good, frame and rust issues all cut out and welded up, brakes done, suspension done, and all other misc issues. I'll spray it and block it with K36 high build. Then towards the fall we will spray it with paint code 4Q2 (its a toyota color - gold) since I work for them, I get great deals on paint.

Im going to look at an 82 auto GSL today. It doesn't start, but has decent interior, glass roof, of course LSD, air dam, side skirts etc... NOPE not killing it either, we'll get her going but goldie is first.

So who's got parts?

Do you need a special compression tester for this?

That would be AWESOME! i APPRECIATE IT! I run average 70-80 miles a week and marathon after marathon doesn't hurt my shin near as bad as that DAMN DOOR!

BTW: Just bought an 82 RX-7 GSL off craigslist. Local car, minor problems, very clean underneath. I didnt see any rust either in the wheel well or rockers.. Has glass roof, front air damn, side skirts, new tires, very recent good paint job (needs blocking and buffing of overspray) and rear skirt. 115,000 miles. Car would die sometimes at idle, he couldnt find anyone to work on it, so they parked it. Hasnt been on road since 2004. GARAGE KEPT the whole time! This will be an easy one... I rolled the engine over by hand, it feels to have compression. Was un able to take plug out and crank it. Battery dead of course. She was asking $800 or best offer. I didn't haggle her, it was worth that. I paid her cash. Damn shame its an automatic.

Im sick LOL

You have an addiction, and like all other addictions it can only be cured one way. BY BEING FED!!! Pics of GSL are a must. Find a 5-speed and ditch the slushbox ASAP.

Thanks!

We're putting Goldie on hold right now.. Gas tank is trashed and theres QUITE A LOT of issues from sitting.. We are gonna go ahead and do the 82. We got the 82 running, but it has to be oil fed in the front rotor to start.. After it starts it runs fine... A little bumpy in the low RPM range but it runs...I know what that means

Sold both cars to Max7 and all the parts I had... Sad to seen it go and i gave it away basically. But on a budget and HP with a rotary is BIG $$$'S. Doubt I'll go that route again... Im happy with just a 200 HP. No need for 25 psi of boost LOL
