OMP question
should you be able to see the oil metering pump going up/down at idle, or do you need to raise the rpms, i premix oil because im not sure the oil metering pump is working,,if its supposed to go up/down and it doesnt, does this mean the chain or something else is defective.....

ok, that rod is attached and goes along with the throttle movement, i guess my question is, does the oil pumping come from something inside the pump cover that a chain activates? and your not able to visualy see this motion at all?

I know that you can't see anything moving from the outside, but I'm not sure if it's an actual pump chain-driven from the eccentric (which I highly doubt..) or simply gets its supply from the main oil pump itself and "meters" that to the carb.

To check if it is working take the oil lines loose at the carb and count drops per minute at a certain RPM. I can get you the specifics from the FSM if you need them.
I would just take em loose and if they drip oil while running above idle say it works!
You can keep the premix for xtra protection. I know 3rd genners do this a lot.
Just my $.02
