For those of you with the Racing Beat street clutch

Does your clutch engage right off of the floor? Mine does, and I have no problem with that, except that it doesn't seem to shift very smoothly. Sometimes when I shift with my clutch pedal mashed to the floor I can feel gears grinding as if I had not pressed the clutch in all teh way. From what I understand the RB clutches normally let up right off of the floor, but this can't be right. I want my shifting to be smoooooth, not chunky like it is now.

Right on-

that sucks

Check your clutch master and slave cylinder. I had the same problem on a stock clutch and the next day my slave cylinder went out But works fine now Also check the fluid. LATERZ,
Andrew

Check you hydraulic clutch fluid levels, I hope that helps. If you dont know where the tank is, it should be on your firewall onthe drivers side i think...I dont exactly remember...

79+80_rx-7 is right. Also check to see if your master OR slave are leaking any fluid. If either are then replace both. (always a good thing to replace them at the same time if one is defective) I had the same problem and replaced them and now I have no problem. They are fairly easy to replace. In any case if they haven't ever been replaced, replace them anyways.

RotorMotorDriver there wasn't any need for the "I'm with stupid sign".

oh yeah if your fluids are leaking its probably the slave, these go bad often,to check simply unbolt the two bolts that hold it in,press in your clutch, look at the slave and see if theres fluid all over it,if so get a rebuild kit, usally $7.00 at most major auto parts stores,it will only take a couple of minutes to rebuild it,it's very easy.

Replaced the slave not too long ago, I'll check again and make sure there is no fluid loss anywhere. Thanks for the help I'll let you know how it goes.

if the hydraulic is ok, then adjust the pedal height.

Yeah, that would be the obvious fix if everything else checks out. Just raise the pedal height... your clutch is obviously not disengaging fully. Raising the pedal relative to the piston will increase the travel of the clutch away from the flywheel when it's released.

I found a bit of fluid below the reservoir on the master cylinder. Doesn't seem like a lot but it is there. Suppose it wouldn't hurt to replace the master cylider and rebleed the system. If that doesn't work I'll look into changing the pedal height.

IF you decide to rebuild the slave or master, you may be better off getting a new one or a junkyard one that appears ok. The clyinder itself becomes larger and grooves also form. Rebuild kits will mask this underlying problem for a little while at best. I used a rebuild kit with the slave and it started leaking again in a 3weeks-month the way it was before. Then I went to a junkyard, picked up one for 5bucks..installed it, hasn't leaked since.
