omp

how to make sure its working? i was cleaning my engine bay a bit today and the omp lines didn't look like that had oil running thru them, would i notice it in the engine if they weren't, next time i fill up i think im going to thro some 2stroke in just to be safe. is it easy to just disconnect the omp lines from the carb and check to see oil coming out? what rate should it be coming out at?

The FSM has a test to check the flow rate/volume of the mop. Adding 2 stroke isn't needed for the test, but wouldn't hurt.

Its hard to tell unless the lines are new and/or the oil is really dirty. The oil moves up the lines in pulses, not very quickly at all.
If your lucky and your lines arent completely brown, you can usually spot an air bubble in the oil as it works its way up the line.At idle, youll only get a pulse every once in a while. If you hold the OMP lever up to full, while the engine idles, the
pulses will increase greatly in frequencey and distance traveled.

Despite what many will say,the OMP is very reliable and rarely needs more attention than a new base o-ring and some fresh delivery lines. Both are cheap and easy to fix, worthy of replacement after 20 years, considering their job.

Sorry to hijack this thread real quick but this is concerning the OMP.....Well one of my OMP lines broke (clean cut too) while i was changing out the alternator earlier this afternoon but i didn't realize this until i got home just a little bit ago. The other OMP line is ok but one is broke in two. Well my question is this: ME running the car on one OMP line......well how bad is that exactly? Do you think i hurt/caused damage to anything? Also i heard that i can use a fuel line from a weedeater in place of an OMP line ( obviously for temporary use only until i get the real deal in the mail)...is this true?

Yep,one rotor is getting no lube.
Itll go a while like this, but eventually the motor will fail/wear on that rotor. At least bridge the break with some rubber tube for a temporary fix until you can get some new lines.Or run some premix....
