thats cool, but i cant read anything - its all in japanese lol. there is a site that sells fiberglass and CF hoods for first gen's but i cant remember the url. im sure someone else will know considering i got the site from this forum.

OMG! I must have it. How do I translate it? I need to know how much $. Yea the one here in teh states doesnt have underside reinforcement, so its not suitable for a streetcar. Not for nothing, but how do you find such neat stuff? I mean I look on ebay and all, but I dont look in a japaneese section.

EDIT: looks like the stock steel reinforcing underside. Not much weight saved there.

Type in "sa ra 7", "sa22", or "sa22c" in the search block. then click on the options over the listings that you cant read till pictures come up. Surf the pics.
I have it memorized which ones to click on. If you figure it out and are bored try "hks" "blitz""greddy""trust"

and i think CP Racing should start making fiberglass hoods.... it would be nice to have a good reputable company make them so CP GET TO WORK! lol

nice... CF always looks nice..

i kinda want a fiberglass one.. should be cheaper. but if i can get my hands on a CF i would get one.

Nope that's fiberglass. They take a mold of the top and bottom and then glass them together to get an entire fiberglass hood. Then they take a layer of carbon fiber and add it on top of the hood for looks. While there is carbon fiber on the hood, it isn't made of it. It is a fiberglass hood with a devorative layer on top. That would be crazy expensive if the entire thing were soley carbon fiber. They are still nice and light though.

Hey carl contact me and I can get one done for you for good price. Around $300CDN which would be $230US fiberglass like mine, really nice, weighs around 15lbs. Carbon fiber one can be made as well, but it will be maybe a pound or two saving.

Let me know,

btw the one in the link is 85000YEN which would be around $800US.

carl I have two stock hoods I just weighted the 83 is 29 .36 lbs and the 79 is an even 32 lbs if your keeping track. abeomid I have been looking for a vented hood do you have any more pics of it that would show how the vent is working? I was thinking that the vent would need to be curved toward the rear of the hood more to work effectively. wouldnt the front edge of the vent need a raise or a lip on it also? that does sound like a good price though.
