If you have cruise control check it out, everything about it, vaccum hoses as well. Also check your throttle cable to make sure it isn't sticking. Last spray some carb cleaner down it to make sure your shutters aren't sticking, (even if only slightly). (But I am sure that you already did this) That is all I know. Mabye someone else more knowledgable will come along.

Hmmm. Do the simple stuff first, hit the insides of your carb with carb cleaner and hit the outsides with WD-40 (or use a full out penetrant but relubricate afterwards). Check your fluids, I know it sounds wierd, but it can't hurt right??

Not to be insulting, but swap in a new driver gasket. Someone may notice something odd that you wouldn't because the problem set in gradually.

To narrow down the problem, disconnect things until it stops doing it. Start by removing your cruise control cable from the carb linkage. Drive it. Repeat for the hot start assist (lil black box with a cable on the drivers shock tower) and the choke cable. If it stops reconnect, your choke, hot start assist and cruise control. IMHO I would only reconnect the choke, you can do exactly what the hot start and the cruise do with your right foot.

I would put money on the hot start assist with the cruise control in a close second.

My guess is either vacuum leak, or something with your linkage/springs.

Check the AAB hose that goes to the back of the intake manifold, then check around your linkages. Other than that, I wouldn't know it unless I saw it.

I hope you don't mind, I was in a "thread ****" kinda mood today so I fixed up your title a bit

Could it be the emergency throttle return spring? Or as Felix Miata calls it, the safety spring. http://members.ij.net/mrmazda/btraps.html#CARBSPRINGS
