You're on the right track, Buckaroo....
Where the sub-frame meets the firewall is a strong area to place your front jack-stands. In the back you can use either the rear axle, or the triangular section that holds the suspension link bar that goes to the axle. I prefer the suspension mount area. Do not use the rails under the car. They are thin, and crushable...

Its also a good idea if you store the car over the winter, or for an extended period of time. It keeps the tires from going flat. Its near impossible to push a car out of a garage with 2 flat tires. Ask me how I know

My MG Midget was on jackstands during the early '01 quake near Seattle. It didn't fall off! However, a Fiat X1/9 engine block sitting on a skateboard slid off onto a piece of cardboard and dinged my garage floor. The engine block was ok too (so is my garage floor; it has many dings hehe!).
